Has the invention of the television done more harm or good to mankind?
the invention of the tv hasn't really had any impact on society, it's what is presented on said tv that has
TV has made me a better person.
Axl, we only agree 33.3% of the time! So low!
Haha well that number could be a little skewed as I tend to purposely vote for the wrong answer in "obvious answer" polls. So it could be a little higher, still pretty low though.
Radio, television and communication satellites keep us more informed about what's going on in the world. Much better than staying ignorant.
It could also be said they keep us complacent and brainwashed.
Can't get any more complacent than living isolated from the rest of the world and getting everything spoon-fed from Mom and Dad, and even later in life never leave your town.
No TV doesn't mean isolated from the world, but contributes to isolation from the community around you.
Makes you complacent by going to work then coming home and shutting your brain off in front of the TV until bedtime. Repeat.
I don't follow you. What are you doing here, is being online so much different? You can also shut yourself out with it. When I grew up, our family watched TV together but we never went TV zombie, there still was personal contact.
I'm not doing anything, just brainstorming ideas really. The Internet is different as there is basically an unregulated flow information. TV is programmed. Also before TV people were much more active.
We're both not old enough to have experienced the before-TV time, but at least I was also outdoors and active a lot during daytime. TV was an evening thing, and I don't think evening board games were more active than evening TV now.
