I received a phone call from the gov saying I was randomly selected for a $9000 grant. All I had to do was go to my local Walgreens, cvs, dollar store to collect. Scam or did I just lose out on free money?

I've heard a similar scam where "IRS" calls you to audit, and you need to verify your SS etc.

Good rule of thumb: the gov doesn't call, they send letters.

It's a scam. The government will not contact you for free money. If it's available, it's your responsibility to find those deals.

I wonder how many people each day they are able to convince to go pick up their "free" money. Sad.

Hi fellow American! This is BigKennyShow.....errrr....I mean the government! Congrats, you've been selected for a free grant! All you have to do is come down to my basement to collect. You won't be locked in there or anything.

That's kinda what I thought. The person on the phone said that it was free and even though I didn't apply for one I was able to collect if I promised not to spend it on booze and gambling. I was waiting for them to ask for my SS number to confirm
