The Boston Globe, known as one of the most liberal newspapers in the nation, just endorsed the Republican candidate for Governor of Massachusetts. A lot of life-long subscribers are canceling their subscriptions over it. Is this appropriate?

No, the Democratic candidate is a joke, and the Republican is a good one.

Will have no effect on the Globe, it's not the first time they endorsed a republican. The Boston Herald, a conservative rag, endorsed Ted Kennedy twice. No big deal.

A poll by the New York Times, CBS News and YouGov.com found Coakley ahead of Baker, 39 percent to 37 percent. Counting those leaning toward one candidate or another, Coakley's lead increased to four points, 45 percent to 41 percent.

HHaha yeah the NY TIMES. A poll by the Globe has Baker up 9 points.

Do you see either with more than 50% of the vote? Too early, lots of undecided voters out there. Martha is going to pull this out. :)

Im ashamed in our state at the people that cant see past parties. It's tims for a change. Mass has done well for themselves but we could be doing even better.

Which - the endorsement, or the reaction?

No but it's funny.

American society no longer wants to choose the most qualified candidate. They only want to choose the one their party leaders have told them to elect.

Obviously it's neither because Mass. will have a GOP governor quite soon! They've actually elected way more Republicans in the last 30 years than Democrats, I think...

I think that both the endorsement and the cancelations are appropriate.

They're free to do what they want. I'm sure the Globe will pick up some readers due to the endorsement as well.

Sure, if they want to.
