Has your home lost power at any time in 2014?
Yes... Like once a week xD
The squirrels love to chew the power lines, you the hear a loud boom, and the power goes out.
That map is hilarious!
Ya we get some pretty nasty storms down here
yeah its called windstorms. stupid people planting their damn trees next to the power poles!
Where in nj has this happened?
I run a 120% solar generation system with inline battery banks, along with a supplemental wind and gas generator. I am attached to the local grid (mandated by law) but I don't go down even when the grid does.
Yeah, this past winter (Jan/Feb) I watched the transformer across the street explode into a lovely fireball that knocked out power for a few days. Of course it was when I was working on an important assignment which required Internet...
Not for a significant length of time, but yes. We lose power every few months from storms and accidents, but usually no more than 20 minutes. Most of the time, it's just a minute or two during a storm. Comes right back up.
Duh. New England Nor'easters.
We have a generator so it has gone out for the max of 10 seconds. That's how long the power has to be out for the generator to turn on
The lights have flickered a few times. but no
Twice. This spring when we had straight line winds. Second time was due to a dumb construction work
Once or twice for a brief time over the summer due to thunderstorms, I think. But we don't lose it nearly as much as those on the other side of the Potomac...
For a slit second
One or two minute or maybe an hour. Lot's of trees to take down lines here.
Several power bumps, nothing over a few hours...
Yeah, back in January.
Nope... Benefit of living in downtown. Triple redundant power feeds to the building.
During storms, a few minutes at most. And once a little longer when some snake or something crawled into a power transfer station. Sizzle...
Yeah we lost it during the storm on the 25th here in oregon.
The worst time was a couple of hours.
Thus my poll yesterday.
Yesterday's storm knocked out our power for a couple of minutes. Thankfully the power company has some type of technology that reroutes the power in our neighborhood if a line goes down. Other neighborhoods in town, older ones, weren't so fortunate.
Usually, just blinks or brief outages during storms. The longest was about two hours.
Just the other day for three hours. A tree came down on some power lines. It's pretty rare to lose power more than momentarily though.
Only momentarily a few times.
Yes, I slept in the car last night so I had power to my phone. We were without for 24 hours due to high winds.
I'm very surprised at these results. Why do you people lose power?
Nope brand new home 3600 sq feet , 3 car garage, 4 full baths, 6 bedrooms. And a third level bonus room that is bad a$$.
I think it's that bad ass third level that makes your home impervious to power loss.
Yep, right before halftime when the Colts played the Broncos. Power came back just in time for me to see the last two minutes. I was not happy.
A few times, but not for very long.
Yes, a couple times, but I wasn't home. It was back on before I returned.
Several times. I mean, this is Michigan.
A few hours, PG& E was doing routine maintenance, but they let us know well in advance and nobody was home anyway
Great. Thanks Tony. Way to jinx me
Only for a minute or so .we have a clock that starts over at 12 and blinks when that happens. So I can tell from the clock how long ago the electricity came back on, but not when it went off.
Have Dominion? There are many things I don't like about them, but at least they are more reliable than Pepco on the other side of the Potomac - are they still under government investigation?
For almost a week in February. Not fun.
Yes but only for a couple of minutes max.
Yes, but not for long enough to cost us anything.
Same here. I think the longest was like 45 minutes.
If only we were talking about 2011, the stories I could tell
Maybe a few times.
every year we usually have several times, just part of winter weather and too many people cranking up the AC in summer
I said "no" because we haven't had anything more than a second or two outage and I don't really count a quick flick off as a power outage.
Just on Friday, for about an hour. We had a pretty good storm blow through.
For like, a minute here and there.
Several times, including for about six hours this morning. VERY annoying!
