Building owner is x-raying the concrete in the sub basement and finds a body they think might be a worker that went missing during construction 40 yrs ago. Estimates say $750k to remove him. Wife demands they pay. Should we force the company to pay?

Nope, if she wants him out she should pay. How many people are buried in the Hoover dam, Golden Gate Bridge, and other large concrete structures?

Law enforce will probably force them to dig it out. Better PR to volunteer and at least appear concerned...

If nothing else that area of concrete is unsafe due to the void that makes it out of specifications. The company needs to fill the void and the wife isn't going to permit desecration of his body, so the company just as well look good & just do it.

Should the Hoover Dam be torn apart to recover all the bodies lost during the construction process? It has been 40 years, this person is laid to rest. Unless there is a question of possible murder, put a marker and let it be.

Or else the wife can pay her self.

Unless there is evidence that the company was negligent, I say no. Even if they were negligent, I'd take it out of whatever penalty they'd receive. So if the penalty is $1 million, the wife gets all the money or uses $750k to pay for the body.

Why was he X-raying in the first place? Did he think he was going to find something?

I saw something somewhere they were about to build something and had to X-ray or something to check for structural integrity or something,

Lol, that's a lot of somethings, it proves I'm not the expert on xraying concrete

The company my husband works for x-Rays concrete. They do residential projects where there are major renovations taking place, mainly structural.

That's an expensive Workman's Comp claim.

I don't think the company is responsible for paying.

Isn't that basically his grave? Wouldn't that be disturbing the resting spot of the dead.

Seems like somebody will pay - out of the cop budget if nothing else. Seems like they'd want to dig him up to ID the body and rule out foul play. And the tenants are probably going to whine about living on a dead guy if they don't remove the body.
