I admit it, I voted for Obama twice. First time because he seemed like a breath of fresh air, second time because he wasn't Romney. I'm just curious if anyone else who voted for him is as disappointed as me at the way his reign turned out?

Yes, I am disappointed he didn't fight harder for the principles he believed in like immigration reform. He is a good man but a poor leader. A good leader fights for his principles. The U.S.A. disappoints me most. We are a bitter, hate-filled nation.

Yes, same story for me. I'm satisfied that disappointing as it has been, it was the correct choice the first time, and the only choice the second time.

I would never have voted for him (Because I believed what he said he would do) and I am even more disappointed that I was not wrong.

I originally voted for Obama in the last waning days of my libertarian years. The decision, for me, came down to bankrupting the country through eternal warfare overseas or through trying to provide socialist programs to Americans and illegals.

Yes, that's how I put it at the time.

Between those two options, I figured it was better for the country to go down in flames trying to make people's lives better rather than killing people.

So, my original vote for Obama wasn't cast out of

10/24/14 11:01 pm

...optimism, but deep pessimism.

Since then, I have done a lot more research into what socialism actually is, rather than what the Mises Institute, Fox News, and Heritage said it was.

By the reelection campaign I was fully in the camp of the

I didn't have any delusions about Obama. He's a politician. Do I wish he was more progressive? Do I wish he was the socialist FNC says

citethesource Socialist and Atheist
10/24/14 11:05 pm

...he is? Yes to both.

But he's not. He's a moderate national candidate that can only win through broad appeal, and socialism, for now at least, is unelectable.

I wish he cared more about NSA spying, and drone strikes, and Gitmo, but he

It's sure be nice if people remembered that Obama is a politician.

A lot of idiots voted for a man who had no experience in running a paper route, much less the government. I voted for Romney because he was the most qualified. I didn't need a breath of fresh air...just experience.

So after one term as president already under his belt, how was Obama less qualified than Mitt?

GlockMan1 Alabama
10/25/14 5:33 am

He's qualified now. Only it's too late to fix the mess he has made. We had a pretty good health care system in the past. Now the Affordable Heath Care is not so affordable and homosexuality is an acceptable form of behavior.

akgoat UniversityofAlaska
10/25/14 6:57 am

Had to bring out the bigotry? Either way "I voted for Romney because he was the most qualified" so now you back peddling and saying that Obama was qualified enough? Also, I'm not sure if you know this but the conservative SCOTUS ruled Obamacare

akgoat UniversityofAlaska

as constitutional. Now they are quietly going to allow everyone the right to marry. I know that scares you, just like allowing interracial marriage scared your ancestors. Good thing progress marches on, even without your hate.

Well, I think Obama overreached and created too big expectations with his change mantra. Maybe if he hadn't created that kind of blind optimism people wouldn't be disappointed.

www.nytimes.com/2009/01/20/us/politics/20text-obama.html?pagewanted=all <-- that's funny. There's at least seven times in his first inaugural address that Obama says we're going to have to *work.* Everyone I knew understood it at the time.

We didn't so much have blind optimism as we had blind pessimism -- from day one, the conservative media machine made absolutely sure that the only thing half the country heard about was BHO's failures. His many, many successes have gone unmentioned.

He is beholden to his corporate masters the same the last dozen or so presidents have been. While I agree with universal healthcare, a tax and mandate is horrible and only stands to really benefit the insurance companies. The drone strikes are

highly illegal and creates more terrorists than it kills. He doesn't have the backbone to close gitmo. Or end the war on drugs.
