A group of Berkley students are protesting to try to prevent Bill Maher from speaking on campus. They are claiming he is a racist for speaking against Islam. Do you consider criticizing Islam as being racist?
While Islam isn't a race, it can be a proxy for race, like when Republicans call Obama a Muslim it's really just a substitute for n****r. I think there's a thin line but Bill's on the right side of it.
I think some of the comments Bill Maher makes can be racist, or possibly just xenophobic. He tends to be kind of a jerk. He should still be able to speak there, but I understand why people would protest him.
Islam is a religion that is the cause of much turmoil in the middle east. Calling it a problem isn't racism, it's realism.
I love when people go after Bill Maher. He always wins lol
A religion is not a race. Sad that these people are in college.
No, but his views could be considered xenophobic, Islamophobic, and/or bias. People seem to think intolerance is justified as long as it doesn't involve racism.
No, it's a religion not a race.
No but I do enjoy seeing liberals attacking other liberals and getting caught up in each other's hate.
It is funny.
No. Criticizing RADICAL, JIHADIST Islam is Patriotic.
Islam is a religion not a race so it's impossible for it to be racist, it is biased though
Islam isn't a race, so how is criticizing it racist???
Never thought I would find myself defending Bill Maher...
No, but we don't have a proper accepted word for 'religionist,' so I can see them using racism rather than trying to make up a new thing, because it gets the point across.
No. Maher does express strong opinions about muslims though.
The only thing that bothers me more than people equating all muslims with terrorism are the people who shout "islamaphobia" at anyone who criticizes islam.
You can't fix stupid...even at Berkley.
