I have told my 22y/o son that he can live at home while he is paying off his student loans (about $20k). He pays the Internet bill and buys his own food. Am I being too nice?
Most 22yo guys would rather not live with their mom, even if it's rent-free. It's wise to put off one's wishes (having a cool bachelor pad) in the short-term in order to position one's self better (being debt-free) in the long-term, if it's doable.
It is hard to tell if it will have negative effects on him from the information provided. If it is hindering his progress it is probably not a good move. If he is pulling his own weight and progressing in life then it could be a good mutual agreement
He has a good job thanks to his education but not so good that he could comfortably pay rent and keep up with his loans.
Too nice? Not at all. Lol
