Sadly at my current employer it's who you know, not how hard you work, that gets/keeps you employed. It's f'ing shameful. Multi-million dollar mistakes made by several different people and none of them had any consequences.

If you measure success as where you started, versus where you end up, hard work is more important. And sometimes, it can take a lot of hard work to prove to your connections that you're worthy of their support.

It's all about who your family is, who your friends are, what your parents do, and which yacht club you hang out at. Lol

Contacts can get you in the door, but if the effort is lacking, you won't be successful.

Depends on the door you went in and the your status level. I've seen some lazy people in positions they didn't deserve because of the connections between the company ownership and the lazy person's referrer.
