With our nation's current immigration laws, do you believe your family would have been able to immigrate legally to the United States today?
My Irish paternal grandfather had been accepted by Chicago Medical School. My maternal great-grandfather fought in the American Revolution against England. Another was one of the group of Alsatians that settled on Texas Land Grant in Castroville.
Hard to know ... mine were on the Mayflower (really ...).
Ditto, one side. Other side probably no chance of admission now.
Oh heck no.
Only due to money and connections, some would.
Nope. My grandparents were Norweigan farmers on one side and Scottish sailors on the other. Pretty sure they didn't have anything we'd want.
I've been doing some research on this. From the looks of it, my Irish side would've had no chance in hell, I don't think my Italian side had any skills but I'm not sure so that's a maybe.
