A police issued body cam saves this police officers career and reputation as well as possibly saving the local taxpayers money. Would you support your local and state police to wear body cams?
I think they should. In fact, I really like the trend towards private citizens using dash cams and miniature body cams to help catch the bad guys - even (especially) when the bad guys are wearing uniforms.
I really like these. It protects both the officer and the citizens.
Where I live, The city police are getting them.
If they don't want to wear it they can get another job.
Police agencies should offer it, but it should be optional and up to the officer whether or not they want to wear it. It will be a helpful tool but it is an invasion of privacy. Although they're public servants, they're entitled to some privacy.
I think they should have to wear them when they're doing the job. It's not like the cameras are on when they are having private moments or they have to take them home. It's when they're actively doing the job, the same way we tape interrogations.
Other public servants work in buildings with 24/7 cameras inside. They're recorded throughout their work day, and that isn't an invasion of privacy.
Pilot program beginning next month here.
No discussion, okay with me.

Yes. They're a good idea. It'll put an end to false claims and also a lot of police abuse.
..abuse by police.
