Hypothetical: A kid starts acting strange and many people on the floor are concerned he could be dangers as he projects himself as a serial killer. His roommate receives odd messages that scare him. Should the school force the roomie to move?

Maybe out - to the nuthouse. There's no reason for anyone to put up with that kind of nonsense from an almost-adult who ought to know better.

At least put him in his own room closer to the main building.

I don't think anyone on the floor is a psychologist. Maybe he's just a little different than everyone else or he's the 'annoying' one that everyone wants gone. Sounds like maybe he should see a psychologist or counselor before getting kicked out.

You don't know the kid. And the RA is a class away from a psychology masters which he'll get in December

Alright. He still needs a psych eval done by someone who is removed from the situation. Yes, the RA is nearly a psychologist, but he also already thinks the kid is crazy. Someone else could look at this with a much more open mind

I don't think you actually understand. He thinks he's crazy BECAUSE of what he has done. He is crazy, there is no denying that. The problem is the school punishing the roommate, not the crazy one.

They shouldn't force him to move, but I would make accommodation if he wanted to move.

He wants his roommates to be sent to a psych ward

At the very least the school should grant the non serial killer roommate the option to have a new roommate. But they should really take more action than that to make sure the roommate feels safe.

Force the roommate or the "serial killer" kid to move out?
My thoughts are that this individual needs help from a professional therapist/psychiatrist.

Expanded. A kid has always been a little weird, but now is producing not acting like he is three person in one, had a portrait faming the devil, is quick to anger and is even writing letters to his roommate (who is many times across the room) saying…
