"I love America more than any other country in the world, and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually." James Baldwin
If you're runnin down my country hoss, you're walkin on the fightin side of me
I will criticize her when she gets duped into accepting rules, restrictions, executive orders and laws that are not Constitutional and will rail against those who are duping her, but I will continually love her for what she is. She is mine!
I don't love America. It is because if this that I criticize the country regularly.
So long as it remains constructive criticism I agree.
Agree, look at the beating Obama gets and nobody gets mad.
Agree! We should want our country to be it's best.
America sucks, and there's no point in criticizing it.
Then leave, you are still free to do so.
Again, you can leave? Why not?
Replace "love" with "hate" and you have your average liberal.
No. Generally we don't have that much internal anger and hate ourselves as much.
Ahh says the fake ender, how does it feel that the author of your node plume is a conservative?
I think you meant "nom de plume," and yeah, Orson Scott Card is not a likable fellow.
No he is a great visionary, and the poser that claims he's ender wiggen is a liberal too,.
We are a work in progress. The moment we stop looking out ourselves critically and think we have it figured out, we are doomed.
Large segments of this country have always thought we've had it figured out and stopped looking. They often tend to invoke men who even if they disagreed with each other on most issues, would probably be unified in horror at that viewpoint
I don't think I have gone a day without criticizing the government on SOH.
That's true, but is the government the country? Or are they different? Or just often intertwined?
Our country has a government that is too big. So, I criticize it.
That's fine, but that's not answering my question, and doesn't seem to quite fit the quote unless the government is the country
The government is a part of the country, so yes I am criticizing the country. I criticize Americans too when they have children that they can't feed and expect the government to take care of them.
