My first laptop was stolen with about $500 worth of songs on it or more downloaded that I couldn't recover once my iPod crashed. No way in hell I would pay $1,000 for 400 songs.

Every day. Mostly manga not available commercially in English. I've actually been legally buying music for a while, both CDs and mp3s. And paid streaming has made it way too easy to pay and not fear viruses, Chinese subs and cam rips. I only download movies if they're not on amazon or Netflix now.

Pirating isn't as serious as people like to think, true online pirates will eventually pay for a product they like. At least I do

...think people are stating here that they "are willing to steal," just because they have stated they downloaded something illegally. They may have done it in the past but don't think it's right now (some have said that in comments here) etc.

I have no clue, Think. I don't speak for all Democrats. (In fact, I shouldn't have identified myself as a Democrat; I just vote that way most of the time.) But (1) I don't think you can complain about Democrats without also asking why 51% of Republicans (here) responded the same, and (2) I don't...

Software, and I have no shame. Especially after I paid over $1000 the first time THEN found out in 4 years it was no longer compatible w an updated comp! I'm talking to you APPLE!! Where's the consumer protection?!

i agree that its stealing now...but when i was in college it was before there was allot of publicity on pirated media and we didnt really see the consequences of what we were doing to the artists

You tards throw around the word "steal" like you own it. Copy-right infringement is not the same as stealing.
For the record: Hulu+, Netflix, and Spotify. All paid subscriptions, all streaming. No pirating. Why? Too easy to get a virus from torrents.

Downloading music is like stealing a car... More like replicating a car so it never actually hurts anyone.
If anything mass piracy has HELPED everyone. Companies offer better prices, add more content, and add tangible memorabilia.

Unlike the sellers of cars, handbags, and televisions, the sellers of music and movies sell it to you on the condition that you won't share it. Suck it up and honor the agreement you made, if you don't like their conditions, then exercise your moral fortitude and stay away from what they're selling.

You wouldnt share a movie.
Downloading and sharing films is stealing, sharing is against the law.
STOP ONLINE SHARING.

That doesn't make any sense! If my friend asks me to help her shoplift, I would say no. Nothing selfish about that.

Get, as in watch or listen. Sorry!
I don't see a point to saving anything anymore like movies or music because something comes out new everyday !
If I really like it, I'll buy it!

Photoshop for instance... I would never spend 100s of dollars on it, however it's nice to have.

Susan ... Your position is commendable. I agree wholeheartedly. My view of the hypocrisy is that the entertainment industry is dominated by Democrats, and they want to enforce their copyrights, yet at the same time statistically significantly more Democrats believe it is ok to steal.

Susan ... You can't ignore the difference. With 11% more Democrats willing to steal, you must agree that the difference is statistically significant. Why are more Democrats willing to steal?

Thats the most blatantly self-serving & immoral justification I've heard. If you don't want to "dish out" money for something you want, then DON'T STEAL IT. I don't want to pay for a new laptop either, but when the time comes that I need it, I'm not going to sneak into a store and take it.

For those of you who think sharing is illegal, please, stop sharing. Dont share anything with friends, family, co workers, nobody. Next time someone asks for help, just say no right in their face. Be as selfish as the pigs, be a slave to the machine.

If your friend asked to borrow some of your cds so that he could download that music to his itunes, would you refuse him? No! Thats what friends are for, they share! But you know what, in the eyes of the rich copyright pigs, that is piracy! This is what we do on the piratebay, we share.

Peers. You do not pay for torrents from piratebay, you do not even pay to use the website. All you need is bitorrent, and away you go. None of the uploaders benefit from sharing their music, other than the mad props their bros give them.

People who buy the music on cd, then turn around and sell burned copies are the thieves that all you people are talking about. Not only is that stealing, its immoral. I think many of you older folk just dont realize that SOMEONE bought the pirated music, and is now SHARING that music with their

Japan did something that cut back on piracy recently, do you know what happened? Music sales dropped. Explain your "hypocrisy" argument to me again. As for myself, i can go on and on about the hypocrisy of all the rich pigs that own the copyrights, but i'll save it for later.

This isn't the Democrat in me, it's the 16 year old kid who can't afford to pay $1.29 every time I want to own a song. There is nothing morally wrong with downloading music illegally. I usually tell friends about the new song I really like, which will in turn get other people to know it and buy it.

No one is taking the dollar. You don't loose money from piracy. You just don't make the sale. I downloaded Daft Punk from The Pirate Bay. Would I have bought it if I couldn't get it from The Bay? No. That's not a lost sale, that's a sale that was never going to happen
bryank21
01/10/13 12:18 am
Are you kidding me? You used to be able to get albums with 20 songs for $3. Now it costs $1.29 just for one song! I'm not wasting my money, however good it is, when I could have it for free.
