Unless you consider my girlfriend a cleaning service. She grabs my cup outta my hand as soon as I take my last sip. Super anal about keeping things "perfect". I'm no slob but sbj the dishes can wait till my foods settled!!

my family and I can handle ourselves. we don't need a maid to clean our house and it's just weird to have a stranger in your house that could be snooping and stealing your stuff

Looks like Romney doesn't have much support here, or does he?

I used to but not too often. it certainly saved time and motivated me to be more organized.

No, they're not lazy. They're just arrogant, spoiled, rich assholes who never learned how to do anything but spend money.

@cowboy-- Hiring help doesn't mean someone is lazy. It might just mean they admit that they can't do everything on their own. Working full time, raising kids, spending quality time with family are all time consuming. Hiring help to clean shows the person has prioritized how they spend their time.

Seriously? What kind of pretentious ass pays someone to clean up after them? Grow up and clean your own house.

@bozo--Read carefully. this question has nothing to do with a nanny raising children. It simply asks if you hire someone to help clean.

seagrl a stay at home husband sounds like trouble to me. everyone is different. however, you don't want you man getting lonely and bored at the same time.

I see a lot of comments saying that they're surprised more people making $100,000+ a year aren't answering yes. Maybe this is just me, and I'll try to refrain from sounding spoiled, but I don't think of that as "rich". People should be paying off their houses/cars before buying cleaning services.

Our cleaning people are the best investment we have ever made. Can't imagine life without Nelly.

every person plays an important role and should be respected as a person. we take care of our people and take time to get to know them. these are hard working honest people. they have to be.

I'm a disabled Mother, so I have to have a housekeeper to keep the house from getting gross. She doesn't come everyday, just every two weeks to do the heavy cleaning.

04/27/12 11:20 pm

I do! Her name is Cookie and she's more of a family member than cleaning person. The kids love her and even if we decided to get another housekeeper she would probably still be around.

04/27/12 9:07 pm

She is called my mother!! oh yeah

Wethe, you are right I want to find a stay at home husband. LOL. It seems like a risk, what if you split up? You have no skills to make an income. Plus what would you do all day? Boring!

04/27/12 7:48 pm

Clean up after yourself. You do everything at that home, except for take the extra 2 minutes to wipe/clean the surface you cleared off...... So that you can pay someone to basically follow you around and do it.

seagrl everyone has different experience. life is not about work and if you can afford it why not? some like to prepare for kids... I recommend a backup plan myself

would you do it for someone else? in Germany employees take turns cleaning their own restrooms. would you clean your restroom if your boss asked you to? the military people do it already!

04/27/12 2:13 pm

Nope, and I probably never will. All the jobs I want are extremely low pay (mostly art related)

Since I make 38% and my husband makes 62% of the income, I do 62% and my husband does 38% of the house work.
But the kids are 100% his and mine so anything that has to do with them has no divide. We both give 100% to our kids.

Best $100 I spend each month. If I had to decide between the housekeeper and cable television -- hasta la vista cable!

My mom works as a housekeeper... But she doesn't clean our house...

Technically I am supposed to have a cleaning person according to my allergist because my allergies to dust are so severe, but I can't afford to hire someone so I have to do it myself.

04/27/12 8:51 am

Don't have the money

I would if I could. We used to pay a student from a local college $20 to come over once a week and do deep cleaning when I was newly postpartum and my husband was working crazy hours. For some it's a luxury; for us, at the time, it was necessity, and the price was right.

04/27/12 6:07 am

I'm SUPPOSED to be the housekeeper for my dad..but I'm lousy at it. And lazy. Sad
