Tesla Motors has opened up all their patents to any car company who wants to use them in good faith. Good or bad move?
I hope all the other car companies remember the old saying; You get what you pay for.
Good move! That means my Lincoln will be worth a fortune within the next 10 to 20 years.
I might be reading too much into this coming so soon after Toyota left their partnership with Tesla and announced giving up EVs in favor of hybrids, fuel cell powered hybrids in particular.
Good for us, bad (maybe) for them.
I believe Mercedes did not enforce patents for crumple zones so others would be safe.
Great! Somebody's gotta make these things at an affordable price.
that increases my already good regard for them
Since Tesla has had an unfair advantage these past years its about time the playing field has begun to be leveled.
How has Tesla had an unfair advantage?
They have smarter engineers I guess.
Also waiting to hear about this supposed unfair advantage.
Depends on the royalties or whatever they want in return.
They want to help get the electric car industry off the ground. If this action increases competition in the industry and also speeds up the larger transition away from gas powered vehicles, I guess they'd count that as a net gain.
