Tenured school teachers usually keep their jobs regardless of behavior and performance issues. Firings happen, but rarely. Should a pedophile be allowed to keep his tenured teaching position?

Without looking it up, I'd guess 1/1000 Pedophiles are female.

A guess can only be exactly what you called it- a guess.

A pedophile should not be allowed to keep anything really.

That's what you get in a Government education system.

We had a tenured 8th grade teacher who went after boys from broken homes with no father present. He was a terrible teacher, drank in class. Because he was also an Episcopal priest, he was allowed to work til retirement.

Most everyone knew, so kids were told "don't ever get in the car with Mr. White." It was up to us to protect ourselves. I went to the school board, and their answer was "he is in a union and tenured."

That defies all logic and reason. Accuse parents of spanking their children and CPS takes their kids away. Molest children and drink on the job as a tenured teacher and work for life. Proof the idiocracy is upon is.

Make the teacher work at a college.

I said what I did because the question doesn't give an actual crime. Pedophilia is not technically a crime until it crosses the line from a fetish to an action - child porn, molestation, etc. A college has no children, so temptation is minimal.

Tenured positions shouldn't exist. It's a detriment to the entire school system. A pedophile teacher shouldn't even be allowed out of jail so his employment status should not matter.

I think that's mythical - tenure only protects incompetent, lawless, are harmful teachers because leaders don't do their jobs. Tenure is not the problem. My view b

The rules of tenure, potential legal fees and the union bullying prevent the administrators from firing tenured union teachers. It's cheaper to rubber-room them and keep paying them than to fight in court. I know, defies logic, right?

No I disagree. I have been involved in dismissing people while dealing with the union threat and all you outline here. So that's exactly the point people don't step up and do what needs to be done. It's hard, it's risky, you will almost always go to

court - it's still inadequate reason not to do your job. I know from whence I speak.

The key word was pedophile...not child molester.

No but between the democrats, teachers unions, and nambla it is nearly impossible to fire these child molesting teachers.

Sure, what's wrong with having a pedofile near children? Nothing could go wrong.

Pedophiles should get locked up and never released.
