If we were a truly democratically ruled would we be a Christian theocracy?
No, I doubt it. Under the current system, people almost never elect clerics to be their congressmen.
No. Though an overwhelming majority of Americans are Christians, I believe most of them (me included) still believe in the ideal of separating church and state.
But we are not a democracy
That's why I said IF we were! I know were a republic. But a democracy is majority rule.
Not sure that we would, but that's definitely a possibility for any majority rules issue.
Nope. I'd say out of the 75% of Americans who profess to be Christian, more than half of them are apathetic concerning their faith, don't attend church regularly (except on holidays), and don't know squat about the Bible except for John 3:16. If they
accepted a Christian theocracy, it'd be illegal for them to divorce, have homosexual sex and sex before marriage, drink, smoke, eat shellfish, work on the Sabbath, commit adultery, wear any modern brands due to their multi-fiber cloths, lie, use God
I agree. most Christian would not was a theocratic government.
's name in vain ("Oh my God!"), not give up 10% of their income to the Church, marry anyone who isn't a Christian, etc. etc. etc.
The Christians who would accept such a state are the crazies you see on TV.
Quick note here, regarding shellfish and multifabric clothes. That's part of the law of Moses, which Christ fulfilled. Which means it is not needed to be practiced.
