The director of a cable tv series is shooting a scene where a woman is breast feeding a 10 yo boy. In order for it to appear realistic, the director requires the boy to actually suckle. Should he be legally allowed to shoot the scene?
Are you a lawyer or just live in a different world than I do?
You come up with some crazy scenarios.
Lawyer? Desperate world probably, but mostly in my own head
Separate, lol, not desperate
Yes, it's not a big deal. It's not inappropriate, breasts don't hold any sexual implication.
Maybe not inherently, but they certainly do culturally.
And that is one concept I just cannot begin to understand- why? Males have breasts too, and yet it is completely legal to show that.
He should be allowed to shoot the scene if the lady and the boys parents giver their consent
What woman can still produce milk when the child is 10 years old? And even if she could, thats disgusting.
Perhaps she had other children?
Good point. But still breast feeding a 10 year old is just wrong. Idk it's just a show so I guess it's all good. But I wouldn't be ok with the 10yo really doing it for the scene.
I doubt there are many cases like that in real life. My brother did until 5 and that was old... But it is a show, things like these are usually put in on purpose. As for the 10-year-old, it's just an aspect of the professional acting career.
You make milk as long as you need it.
Sure. Why not?
It sounds like a sick fetish...
NO! I'm all for breast feeding but it should be ended at a certain age.
It's for a TV show.
Don't matter wrong any way you look at it
if both actors are okay with it, I don't see a problem.
Gross! No! Poor boy...
It's strange to see into the twisted mind of the average man.
It was a joke.
mister, you wear Depends?
He's not being forced to, he's an actor
I think not.
So in sex scenes do the actors actually have to have full penetration in order for it to seem real?
Its not necessary.
If the director wants to focus on the penetration, it's hard to fake
Then that would be called porn. Perhaps this child sucking on a boob should also be considered porn.
To many it is
Boobs have nothing to do with sex
You may believe that Ivyra, but to many they are considered a sexual organ, otherwise female toplessness would not be a criminal offense.
Seeing them does kinda make me feel all funny inside
Boobs have everything to do with sex.
Well, they are not, and it shouldn't be.
So is there something wrong with me for feeling the way I do about them?
Some sort of defect?
So breastfeeding is now sexual?
(btw, in Ohio anywhere a man is allowed to be topless so is a woman. That men are ok but women aren't is absolute crap)
No breastfeeding isn't sexual but breasts are. Let me pose a scenario for you Ivyra. You are at work a male coworker comes in and says, wow your boobs look hot and perky, then pretends to squeeze them. sexual harassment or just a nice compliment?
Cheril that's directly making them sexual.
Any part of the body can be sexualized. Ohio sounds really nice.
Ivrya, unfortunately the laws ahead of the people. It'll be nice when the populous catches up. Thankfully though it's the law.
We have too many unnecessary laws as it is.
Those CSI shows do weirder stuff.
I don't see an issue with it, it isn't a sexual thing, but if they have concerns or to keep the dirty thoughts police off their backs, it would be a simple thing these days to just use a fake boob. "Problem" fully averted.
I see no problem
Perhaps if they make it a documentary and use tribal women and children from the pages of National Geographic. Or a teacher and student.
I am 17 and as long as the actress is hot I would do it
That's just discussing and pervertive.
One reason why I'd say no ;-)
May appear that way, but its not
Oh, come on. You're 17. As long as the actress is female, you'd do it.
Is the actress going to have engorged breasts, too? Otherwise it just won't be realistic. Hormone therapy, now!!
Not if she breastfeeds regularly, her body has regulated, or has low supply. Which means not at that age :)
Curses! Foiled yet again by the facts.
I really think it depends on the child. Some children, especially children who act, can be very precocious. If they understand its acting, and a prosthetic is used, and the child is ok with it, I would tentatively say its ok. breast feeding isnt
sexual after all.
I often have problem with young kids in inappropriate scenes. I just watched this scene to make a better decision on this question and even though it wasn't a real breast I think it was still inappropriate. I don't understand parents letting their
young children act in instances such as these. The one that really comes to mound is the boy in Two and a Half Men. I only watched that show a couple times but was appalled by some of the things the kid said.
The essay answers are back :)
Dammit, Bob! Why do you do this to me especially now that school is out for the summer? :)
What about bad grandpa the thing that child says dang
chaseh.... I didn't see that movie but I can imagine!
There are instances of 10yr olds having sex these days. So, let's jam an adult woman's tater tot into ones mouth. Awesome.
Heehee, tater tot
I am wondering what kind of parent would let her son be in a movie like that.
A very bad parent.
Kitty - i don't agree with you politically but I have seen a side of you in two instances of morality where we totally agree on. This poll is not good for my health and I am stunned at some of the responses.
Kids aren't able to be kids anymore. They lose their innocence so early now because of the things they are allow to see and hear. It's very sad.
We were HUGE proponents of monitoring what our kids watched when they were younger. I love the website kidsinmind.com which very specifically reviews movies and tells you exactly what is in a movie in terms of language, violence and sexuality. Wish
they had it for TV. We loosened the reigns as they got older and more mature.
Aww, CC, this is two days in a row I feel bad, would it help to give a preview of tomorrow's poll?
Yes Kitty - Kay. I did not let my daughter see a PG movie till she was 11 (not pg13) and also read up in a web site reviewed by mothers. Kitty you are so right. Everything is sexed up - a woman cant eat a piece of chocolate in a commercial without
Implying something else is going on by her reaction. These are all 8:00 shows. Try to find a Halloween costume for an & year old that doesn't say "sexy witch" or sexy nurse" or one of those "cop uniforms. Society is going morally bankrupt.
That Larry Flint is such a character!
Kinda sounds like child molestation...
Yes. Yes. Just keep the FCC out of this. After reading below of its GOT then its already but everyone on high for don't let kids watch.
I don't understand
Why should the FCC censor what is out on TV? Some little kid is gonna watch and get scarred for life? That's bad parenting. Keep your kids away from game of thrones.
More interested in the effects on the young actor than other kids seeing
If the young actor, and I question how young he actually is, understands this is simply a role in a movie, there should be no harm to him. As for people watching this, game of thrones is clearly not a show for children.
If parents do not want their children to see this, they need to limit their exposure to it. Good luck given the Internet. That's life these days.
My 3yo has seen a few scenes from GOT, including the one in question (if she's awake and there's violence or sex I pause and watch later, she wakes from naps unpredictably). She didn't bat an eye. But bfing is normal to her.
Nice job of responsible parenting Goldie. More people should be responsible. :).
Wow. If you expose your kids to (GOT) this now and get used to them watching this with you at 4-6/10 - i just say wow better keep my mouth shut.
Chicken, nudity and talking aren't shameful in my home. I won't flip out if my kid walks in while I'm watching a show and there's SKIN! Bodies are more than sex objects and there's nothing wrong with having parts. We all do.
Bob, I didn't consider the actor.
If him and his parents all consent, then Go for it.
As long as the boy takes no issues and doesn't see it sexually.
How do you guarantee something like that??
Well ask him for one. I'm sure there's a therapist or psychologist somewhere who can get a good idea of it though.
How can a boy at that age decide if "he has no issues with that".
The way a boy at any age does... Does it make him uncomfortable?
He should not be making this kind of decision at all. If a parent has to send their kid to a psychiatrist to make a movie what does that say. Kids on tv are not seeing analysts before they act.
Would you rather kids never see one? What about kids with mental illness acting? Should they just not be allowed to because a professional should evaluate them first to make sure it's not too strong a stressor?
Rose- 1. don't create a false dilemma.
2. If my kids couldn't emotionally or psychologically handle prof acting, I'd pull them out
I'm not creating a false dilemma. She stated an absolute, I'm wondering if it's actually an absolute position.
Personally, if my kids wanted to act even if I felt they were capable I'd ask a professional for input first. Regardless of the scenes.
Milk -would you let your 9 year old watch or appear in GOT?
I don't think a 10 year old should be sucking on a woman's breast
Cookie- probably not let them watch it because there's no reason to.
But if they were child actors, and the role and all the scenes were appropriate I would.
I'd be pissed if I were a kid and couldn't watch the show I star in
Chicken, I generally agree. However, breastfeeding should never be made into an argument about sexualization of children. It's the most natural, innocent thing a young child does.
I do not watch GOT, never have but it is soft porn plus. Would you watch this kind of show, with this kind of graphic goings on with your wife and 4 girls, ongoing, implying sexual situations? I do not feel nursing is normal at 10. Why stop there
Thinking it's not normal is rather far from kids being sexualized and in sexual scenarios.
I know it wasn't to me, but I'd watch with my husband. My kids, as I said, not sex scenes or graphic violence (the violence aspect is why I love Once Upon a
Time. Sure there's fighting, but no physical injuries or blood are ever shown. Plus it's a fun plot)
There and continue till he is 13? Nothing to do with being naked or nursing or natural there is no way I would want my 5 year old watch a 10 year ild breast fed by its mother who will have sex with her brother right after. Now i get it!
Cookie, I don't know what you're going on about.
I don't think anyone is saying they'd deliberately let young kids watch this show.
Game of Thrones season one
He wasn't actually suckling though was he?
If not, those were some damn good special effects. It was the prince "I'M HUNGRY NOW MOMMA"
Was what he said before she whipped it out and latched the lad
Oops, google says he was 6 or 7, looked older to me
Look at the paragraph under the picture of the foot.
I'll be damned, now my mind is blown, they had a fake that looked real, covering the real one, and the boy latched that one? Honestly, what is the difference?
I think using a fake breast is a lot creepier.
One is real, with nerve endings, etc, and is a living part of a woman.
Come on, bob.
Would you feel the same way if you were the actress?
They probably shot that scene a dozen times or more to get it right. That might take hours of a little boy latching on and off you In front of a cast and crew that you have to work with every day.
There's a reason I'm not an actress Milk :)
The difference is nerve endings, I'm going to write that down for future reference, thanks milk.
I think that was the third season actually. where
