In general, is it easier to raise a son or a daughter?

Girls have many problems, so I am going to go with a Son, but I can't speak from another perspective on boys, since the only boy in my life is my Dad, so far.

If you're looking for easy, better stick with a goldfish or a hamster or something. There is nothing easy about raising a child.

Indoor plumbing and all the issues that come with it are MUCH more difficult!

I've heard from my sisters that it was harder raising their daughters.

Got one of each! The boy is like going on Vacation!

I have one of each and I have to say the boy trumps the girl in regards to raising with less drama. Those hormones are kicking her @ss and she's only 11. Poor thing.

I LOVE raising two daughters!!
Playing dress up, singing at the top of your lungs, dancing, painting nails, doing hair, decorating cupcakes...... That NEVER gets old!!!

Hi Cass!
Sound like fun! I never had daughters to do that with. I will have to wait for grandchildren.

If these results are indicative of how my father felt, no wonder I grew up thinking there was something wrong with me.

Sad that people prejudge their children like this.

I don't think there is any pre-judging going on here. The question is just asking if sons or daughters were easier in terms of fewer problems for parents. Several people answered based on actual experience. Although I had the sons, one of them was

definitely harder to raise based on his personality and demeanor. That isn't judging, it is fact.

Also, easier doesn't mean the daughters/sons are bad in any way. Just that patenting is easier with one or the other. Don't know of I am making sense! :)

I guess I'm thinking more along the lines of generalizing to say that "boys" are easier to raise than "girls" - as though every child isn't an individual. Not blaming you specifically as I know people use this terminology. I just have some very bad

memories of blatantly disparate treatment growing up that was premised specifically on nothing more than my gender.

Hopefully most parents aren't shitty sexists like my dad was.

I can understand what you are saying. It couldn't have been easy for you on those circumstances. :(

You could add all of my girls' ages together and they wouldn't be 12 :)

They'd be 11! I'll let you know next year if they start ganging up on me :)

Boys are way easier! I had 4 boys and 4 girls.. My sons kept their rooms cleaner, did choirs better, and kept the bathrooms cleaner as well... There is a reason for the words Drama Queen..

Have two girls 20 years apart. Very different experiences. I do daycare for a boy. He used to dump every single bin and stomp on all the toys. But that is just him.

I've only experienced raising boys, so I couldn't say. All 3 of my boys are different though, different personalities.

I think girls will have more drama and heartbreak in their teenage years. Secrets are held and often you find out things from others. They also seem to be aware at a very young age who is pretty and who dresses cooler and this is "what matters"

I think somewhere around 20 they start looking at you in a new light and see what you have done for them.

My two sisters together didn't cause my parents half as much aggravation as I did by myself. Mostly because girls seem smarter and a lot sneakier. So they must be easier.
