Brian William's interview of four World War II vets was poinient and touching. Five of my great uncles all served WW II- now all deceased. Do you personally know any living WW II veterans?

Yes. The last relative who served in WWII is on his deathbed though.

Sadly, my Dad died. I'm very proud that he helped liberate the death camps, though.

One of my great-grandfathers was in the 7th Wehrmacht on D-Day, my grandfather from the other side was a Higgins boat driver in the US Navy. He was involved in 7 of the major landings bringing in Marines and bringing out their bodies.

Where I have lunch now and then there is one guy that comes in. He helped liberate the camps. Dad is in that age group. but he was blinded by smallpox as a child in one eye so he cannot serve in the military.

My grandfather passed away this year. He was on an aircraft carrier in WWII. My other grandfather has been gone for a while time. I never knew what he did in the armed forces during WWII but I know he served. I totally forgot they both were there.

Neither would talk about it often. I only know about the one grandfather being on an aircraft carrier because he blamed his hearing loss on all that noise. Which I totally believe.
