Have you ever flashed your headlights at oncoming traffic in order to warn them of a police officer ahead?

Fun fact: in Europe almost every radio station warns you on what road the police are....they even tell you whether they have a radar or it's just a regular patrol.

Don't flash your high beams, that's illegal. Turn your headlights off and on if you're going to warn other drivers.

And if you don't think police officers doing traffic enforcement keeps you safer, you're an idiot.

I do it all the time for about a mile or so after seeing the police officer. Cars in front of me get mad. Cars on the opposite side of the road are happy.

I usually only do it for semi trucks

I did this one time, and the guy got mad at me and flipped me off. Probably got a ticket...

Yes, everyone should. The police aren't there waiting to actually protect others.

I feel the same way. Although I have heard of people getting in trouble for flashing their lights to warn people, I wonder if it's true? I just flashed mine at two cars on my way to internship this morning.

Yes, there are some states that have laws against it. I don't know anyone personally who has encountered that issue, but it doesn't deter me. It's strange the amount of people who don't know what the light flashing means, though.
