Inspired by Pinkyusuck: if you get beat up in a fight (doesn't matter how it started), should you receive any blame for not preparing sufficiently to fight back?

I think it does matter how it was started for similar reasons Earthmonkey explains.

If it started with a sucker punch then you can not adequately fight back. So not your fault.

If it started with you talking a huge amount of crap then getting your face knocked in... All your fault.

Not to blame, but preparing yourself with a self defense class would be a good way not to get beat up.

I don't believe you're to blame if you are beat up, but you shouldn't blame the other person for beating you up either ..

That's... not true at all.

Well I mean in a respectful fight , that was my fault for making that clear. If someone gets jumped and beat up , yes the person needs blamed. However, if it's two people squaring up and fighting, no one should be blamed for the outcome.

Well, it's hard to prepare for something if you don't expect it.
