Do you generally view constitutional monarchies and favorable or unfavorable? Discuss.
People tend to be happy and the countries are stable.
I do not favor any kind of a monarchy.
I don't have much good to say about them. They are sort of state sponsored celebrities, born to be rich and never care about money. Some argue they do a lot for their country, but they certainly also cost the tax payers a lot of money.
Many of them have been involved in scandals which they somehow get out of without issue. It's stuff the rest of us could go to prison for.
Well, either we have a dynastic family that is supposedly deigned by God to cut ribbons, gives inspirational speeches, head Parliament, and draw a comfortable living off the public dole, or a dynastic family who fundraises, often implies they are
deigned by God to rule, and cuts ribbons, signs legislation, and draws a comfortable living off the public dole.
Difference is we have many retired Presidents simultaneously utilizing the secret service.
In general? I don't know enough, but I approve of the British monarchy (I'm British). The Queen performs the figurehead function admirably and the monarchy probably wins us enough tourism and business to pay for itself many times over.
Yes. The Queen Mum is pretty great.
The queen mum? She passed on some years ago, but yes she was special.
Sorry! Thought Elizabeth was.... Now it makes sense to me. Thanks.
