Will New England, and the majority of the north stay solidly democrat for a long time?
Massachusetts, Rhode Island and sadly maybe even Vermont (seriously, how did that state's politics change so drastically?!) are probably out of reach, but as I said in the other poll, once both parties seem comparatively socially liberal to...
... today's GOP (say, 40-50 years?), I see Republicans making gains in Connecticut, Maine and especially New Hampshire.
I believe that the moderate Republican candidates which have been popping up in New England may bring moderate electoral success (they've only lost by small percentages recently). Maine and New Hampshire will likely remain very competitive.
For the same reason as the Deep South question. American's are too stupid, too lazy and too complacent to actually make an effort to exercise democracy.
