The Mortal Instruments series is amazing! As is the prequel series (Infernal Devices) and a series of novellas (The Bane Chronicles). It's such an awesome universe to get engrossed in. And the writing and mythology that is involved is outstanding!

I just finished The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (which is actually J.K. Rowling under a pseudonym), I'd suggest that.

Inkheart was really good! I'm not sure if I read the last one though... I might have to look at it this summer.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams and/or Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Oh! Speaking of Neil Gaiman, The Ocean at the End of the Lane is really, really good. And I second that John Green recommendation.
