Have you ever gone for weeks (or months) thinking an SOH user was a certain gender, only to find out later you were wrong?
what Tony is a guy!! I was deceived all along!!!
No, but then, I don't usually actively seek out a user's gender if their name doesn't already partially imply it.
Don't know, don't care.
People think I'm a dude !!
I thought that for a while. Also ChickenCookie.
You thought I was a guy?
All the time. Profile pics are helpful, people! You're beautiful! Just throw one up!
And people with similar names or pictures kind of jumble together in my brain also.
I gave up trying to guess & figure it out. I can't keep up with remembering what I might have read. A few I know. A few names or pictures you can tell. I assume people can tell I'm a male.
I'm the other gender person more often.
Whatever gender you think I am, I am not.
Oh no... that scares me.
I voted lol yeah but is like to leave out the lol part cuz it wasn't funny flirting with the dude. #fml
@Late / i thought you were a guy too. Thin with blonde hair.
CC...you know I am not a guy, you just don't remember. :) we have daughters the same age in college, remember.
I have confused everyone with my pic. That's my hubby on the right...still sexy after all these years. ;)
Haha. I know. Just like I was a Victoria Secret model. By the way you and your husband are one cute couple. :)
I generally don't presume gender if it's not obvious from name or context, but I'm one of the many who thought rlands was male for a while, & I made the opposite error once when I was positive a user had identified as female, but I misread something.
Yes! I thought BeanD was a guy. And I initially thought whichendisup was a guy too. And I couldn't tell either way about Sakura for months.
Most of you are asexual until proven sexy.
Some people thought I was a girl because I had Sheldon as my display pic.
Yeah, very interesting
Happened to me on their age. Truckin' along thinking they're in their late 20s, only to find out they're 12! SMH.
One of the best things about SOH...it helps us see people for their ideas, without first seeing them through the lenses of age, ethnicity, gender, etc.
Yea but SO much of what's discussed here is inappropriate for little children.
Maybe so, but thinking realistically, they've probably seen and heard much worse at school and online. "Adult" polls can be filtered so they only go to users 21+. Mostly though...parents should be aware of the apps a child uses.
This happened to me too! I am still amazed at some of the insight and intelligence I see out of the younger crowd here!
Yes...SOH has given me more confidence in the younger generations.
It's pretty cool as a 14 year old to actually debate without the added clause that my ideas don't count.
Exactly! Many people wouldn't "hear" you if they knew your age. Some teenagers on here know far more about some issues than I ever will. Your opinions count and deserve to be heard regardless of your age.
I disregard peoples ages on SoH, I let their actions and words dictate if they get my attention and respect. Most of the users on SoH seem pretty smart, while I small portion of the users make me lose faith in humanity at times. lol
