When you were in high school, did your family pressure you to pursue something in the medical field?

Kind of. I was asked to pick either medical or engineering as career tracks. I chose engineering and went into eecs.

No, but with my dad working as a paramedic/firefighter, and my mom doing xray/ultrasounds, it was inevitable. I'm now a pharmacist and my sister is a nurse. :)

My mom works as a surgeon but used to be a vet so yes she wants me to be a part of the medical field even though I want to pursue in music.

My brother was a doctor, like my dad wanted, by the time I was six. I could do whatever I wanted.

My mom is an EMS dispatcher and she has been trying to get me to take the EMT course but I have other plans. I may do it some day but I'm not set on it right now

I think I have been very strong willed from a very young age. No pressure given or accepted. I choose medical field on my own.

My Grandson has that pressure! He loves history and science. Last he to me he might look into robotic medical engineering. I don't think he know what he wants.

No, thankfully. My mom is a laboratory technician (the person who tests your blood) and really made an effort to expose me to her micro-biology world, but I think it became clear pretty quick I'm not a science person. My parents support me...

...in whatever I want to do, even if it's not in either of their fields (medicine or engineering), and I'm so grateful for that.

Ya gotta love the MLT's of the world. But for me Micro is the very worst department In the lab. I hate trying to read gram stains.

No. I didn't feel any pressure to go into any field.

No, my dad faints at the sight of blood so he probably wouldn't have been a huge fan of my going into any medical profession and my mom doesn't really pressure me in general

Let me rephrase, she never pressured me regarding to what field I should work in, she always said that I would be good at whatever I decided to do so that was nice

No, they only strongly advised to not be a school teacher. I do want to be in the medical field though and more specifically, a pharmacist

No, they didn't push me in any direction. They encouraged me to pursue what I like and was passionate about.

They strongly encouraged me but there was no pressure involved - that's where my interests already were.
