Iowa Senatorial Candidate Bruce Braley used an actual chick in an attack ad against Iowa Senatorial Candidate Joni Ernst. Is it sexist to link a woman to a chick?
In general yes, however you left out some crucial context to the poll.
The chick ad about how she never made a peep was in response to her own campaign ad where she states that she grew up castrating pigs and would cut the pork out if elected
It could be, but in this case the focus is on not making a "peep," not on being a chick.
The sexism here seems to be in trying to invent a way manufacture sexism.
Sad to see a Republican playing this despicable came more often played by Democrats.
She did link her opponents in Washington to pigs, you know.
No not at all. Calling a girl a chick is like calling a guy a cat. It is bad taste, however, to do what the guy did.
Sexist? No. Stupid? Yes.
Depends. Is it a baby chick? If so, has its sex been determined by a professional chicken sexer?
"professional chicken sexer" Thats just crude.
I hate when people always have to bring up race or sex
Aren't chicks male or female?
So if you saw a young good looking guy you'd think "Nice Chick!" That's OK.
Political is definitely gay
I am one hot fairy. Jk!
I always thought he was just HAPPY!
/\_/\_/\_/\. <- poli is as straight as that line.
Not in the general sense; it's merely a metaphor -- unless of course it's *intended* to demean the woman in question. Then it's sexist.
Maybe run an attack ad similar to that against Hillary later on. Like she didn't say a "peep" about Benghazi!
Everything offends someone it seems.
What happens in Iowa, stays in Iowa.
We wouldn't get much corn that way! :)
Psh, Ohio grows enough
Yes, I prefer broad
Alright my politically correct people!
I thought they used a chick because of the "peep" pun. I don't see any sexism.
All political ads except Herman Cain's suck anyway.
She is a woman, and they used a chick. Do you see a connection in that? I answered no, BTW. If a conservative pulled the same type of add, I am sure Al Sharpton would be claiming Republicans have a war on women.
I don't see it.
That female candidate had an ad the other day where she likened lawmakers to a pig. Is that not also sexist if this is?
And is he not a conservative? Sounded like a pretty conservative ad to me.
He is a democrat! No! A pig has no gender connotation at all.
And if he isn't a conservative, he's still clearly getting criticism for it. Not sure why you see a double standard.
He is? Well, he's not from me.
chicks can be male, too
Pigs is a common term referred to male sexists
Iowa democrats are still conservatives.
Haha! Well she did castrate hogs. Like I say, I don't see any sexism. We agree for a change.
IDK! Around Des Moines, it is liberal.
They don't make ads like they used to:
The debates were not as good when he left the race.
NEIN NEIN NEIN PLAN!
He and the Rent Is Too Damn High guy were the best.
Sexist? Idk, I'm not sure it really matters. It's just stupid.
Most ads are.
Hi bean dip! :-)
