You get into a heated exchange with another SOH user. You find out a short time later that the other user has posted a disparaging poll about you, directly naming you. Put bluntly: do you care?

Yes and no.

Yes because the loser obviously lost the debate and can't figure out how to display his stance. ...so he attacks the debater.

No because I couldn't care less what most people think.

That's rude. I would feel offended and self conscious about it, because it just seems like so much overkill for a little debate.

I mean if you REALLY have nothing else to do with your time, then by all means make nasty polls about a person on the internet. It doesn't hurt me that you have a stick up your ass.

My feelings would be hurt, quite honestly

I care in the "ooooh goody I can't wait to read this!" way, not in the "boo hoo someone's attacking me" way. Does that make sense?

I'm in the same camp. :-)

I voted 'no', but that's because I interpret 'care' as meaning 'am I concerned by'. If anything I'd be proud.

It happens to me from time to time but I'm not upset about it, it means people are thinking about me while I don't think about them :)

Ya stop caring after the 3rd or 4th time, but generally I guess I'd probably still read the comments to see how the community felt.

I believe I would care. I have never been named in a disparaging poll and I hope I never am but who knows.

As childish as something like this would be I'm in no way deterred from stating my opinions and angering a few closed minded individuals. The poll would serve only to draw more attention to my point of view and I would welcome it.

I would care about what everyone else who commented on the poll said about me.

I would probably laugh and let the many other SoH users who dislike such polls yell them for me

I would care if it was someone I liked. If it was from someone who I wouldn't be surprised about then I would not really care. I don't think anyway, depends what they say.

I'd probably be flattered that I made any kind of impact. I might even find it funny.

To be honest, I'd probably care because I hate to be misrepresented. Now, if my original point was understood perfectly and the user just hated my viewpoint, then I probably wouldn't care...people can think what they think as long as it's accurate.

Meh. If that's what they want to do with their time, it bothers me none. Haha, I've never been called out by name, but I've had at least three polls created from conversations with people that were not very friendly.

Yes and no, mostly no. Sort of what Which said.

There was a user who took a comment of mine oddly & used a screen shot of it as his profile pic for a little while. That was weird.

I don't even consider it childish. It's a natural reaction in this environment. We generate and ask polls about what we happen to be thinking about. In a heated argument, you or your position on an issue might be what they are thinking about.

I know harassment can be an issue. I know that this can be used to harass someone. But, I don't think that every time this happens that it is harassment.

I would like to say no, but it would prob a little bit. it would depend a lot on what the poll actually said.

People are still people. You don't see world peace going on outside, LOL, you sure as hell ain't gonna find peace on the net with some folk. It's just the way it is. Fortunately not everyone is so wound up that they hold online grudges. :)
