If voice recognition were just as accurate and widely available as your phone's keyboard+autocorrect feature, which method of input would you use more often?
Typing is more private and annoys fewer people.
It is about to be with IOS 8.
It makes me uncomfortable to talk into a phone in public. And there is always phone voice. Is everyone deaf on the other end of the line.
Problem for me I guess. Siri asked me if I could spend time with him so he could learn how I talked. So much for modern technology.
I chose text because of the privacy issue. I sure don't need everyone knowing what texts I'm sending my family and friends. If I were alone, then I would be willing to try talk.
in this day and age, time is of the essence. if, like the question stated, voice-to-text was actually accurate, it would dramatically decrease the time taken to message someone. many states enforcing the "dont text and drive" law, and this would help
Txt is sometimes slow, so i would talk.
I use voice text... Voice google search all the time.
Unless of course my bf is sleeping!
I talk to text a lot. My iPhone is very accurate.
My phones voice recognition is annoying as hell in the fact that it mishears everything I say
How would you say "LOL"? Would you just laugh loudly?
you would literally say "l-o-l". it's not that complicated.
Then that's dictation, not voice recognition.
Kant v Descartes Poll
Thats what calling and voicemail is for. When i text or answer other peoples text i dont want anyone to hear it. If i want to hear there voice i call them.
If you're talking to send a message, and the other person talks to send you a message... Why not just, oh, you know, talk to each other??
My husband cannot spell accurately, nor does he speak english accurately. so when he tries to talk to thevoice gadget in the phone, it has NO idea what hes saying....it also has no idea what he is typing. I think its funny
It's annoying to hear peoples text conversations.
I reckon I'll continue peckin' on my keyboard, 'til such time as thought-transfer software is refined...
I'm so tired of talking.
voicetyping is more accurate in general.
Ok Glass, ...
I'd prefer not to speak out all the dirty šhit I would like to search in the vicinity of coworkers...
Most times that I use my phone, I need to be more discreet. Using the voice recognition feature would just be rude. But I do use Siri to text for me while I'm driving, to set reminders/appointments in my phone, and sometimes to search.
Type. It's private and more considerate.
You can always use the talk to text when alone. It doesn't have to annoy people.
I like it for driving and also for keeping my thumbs from hurting. ????
I avoid speaking out loud when I can.
Type. Even though it's my opinion that if I annunciate clearly voice IS as accurate as typing, and unquestionably faster. Typing is less annoying to fellow pedestrians.
if people are around I type. by myself I use voice.
just my opinion but everyone ive been around using siri just seems like a douche. dont know why but thats how i feel
I wouldn't want people to hear me say, " I'll be there in 5 minutes, don't touch the body till then"
You're a hit man? ;)
I need the "Think" recognition
Type don't need others to know what I'm searching
voice recognition. hahaha!
If I'm alone I use voice recognition anyway, but in public or around other people I type.
Depends if I'm alone or not
If I'm always dictating to my phone I'm sure somebody will punch me.
Yeah I hate people with Bluetooth talking into space. Twenty years ago they'd have gotten locked up for communicating with the dead in a public place. Aye, most certainly they're guilty your honor. Have you ever seen a sane person talk to ghosts?
I do talk now and I get some very interesting sentences.
I'd probably still type. I actually enjoy it. Texting is another story. I hate it so I always use the voice recognition feature.
But what happens when it starts talking back?
Typing is faster and quieter.
With my husband usually suffering from a migraine, he is very sensitive to sound. I need to keep quiet or I will make his head feel even worse. So, no talking to the computer.
Type, probably, I can do it without creating a distraction. If I lived or worked alone, voice recognition.
Mid-meeting your boss says, "God you have a sexy ass."
"Sorry. Not harassment. New phone feature."
I could never get used to talking to Siri on a regular basis. I'd rather type in commands discreetly, instead of declaring aloud "Google search: boobs"
Google's response: "Did you mean members of Congress?"
Good one. That made me chuckle.
I tend to argue with my devices that speak to me. Not when I type though...
But spell check is a bitch sometimes. LOL
Very true. ;)
I don't like to talk. I'd rather type.
I am too lazy to talk. :)
I talk with Siri all the time.
37 out of 38 times voice recognition doesn't even work.
It works for me unless I'm using the local vernacular.
If I were alone, talk. In a room with people, definitely type. I like my privacy.
I would love that. My fingers tend to lock.
It takes more effort to talk out loud for me. And it would be terribly inconvenient in public.
My phone's voice recognition is better than it's autocorrect.
