company A provides strong dividend returns but has suffered from instability due to its focus on returning the highest profit poss to investors. company B provides about 1/2 of dividends poss choosing to invest the other half into employees & growth.

I would say invest in B or face diminishing returns as an investor.

Then of course, there's Amazon, which invests everything into growth and completely flummoxes investors by not ever returning meaningful dividends. How do you treat that? It's growing, but there's no money coming out the other side! I'm confused!

I've never been interested much in dividends, I care about appreciation and value. Maybe when I get older.

I would personally want one that offers consistency in making earnings. And dividend growth is something I would want to see too. I would rather do something boring that makes money.

I would invest in B just for having values I hold important. If money is my "voice" in the economy, then I'm putting it behind what I want to support.

Never invest into uncertainty. The risk might pay off once in a while, but those returns won't last you long enough to cover the costs incurred if you do it on a regular basis.
