Do you consider fishing as animal abuse?

If not for food, yes. If the person fishing has no plans on using the fish as a food source and throws the catches back in the water, it's basically making a sport out of torture.

I only kill what I'm sure I'm going to eat. I usually just catch and release, though.

The method of death is pretty... Miserable for fishy.

I fish but release them. I crimp the barb, no live bait. The hunt is fun, being outdoors is better.

I don't think so. It's the same as eating meat, except you catch it yourself. So is eating meat animal abuse? I would say it's a bit unsettling when somebody catches a fish and then lets it go, the fish just suffers.

You don't think a hook through the mouth is abuse?

That is a much quicker death than a getting hooked and suffocated.

How? Borrow some Mark 48 torpedoes and kill half the fish and stun the others. I bet the explosion will gut some fish fore you ;D
