In the movie "The Purge" ALL crime is legal for 12 hours one night a year. As a result, crime over the rest of the year drops dramatically. Would a "purge" type situation work in real life?
The movie starts out and says that unemployment is also down to 1%. Not really sure how a free crime night would help unemployment....gotta love Hollywood.
It would help because in the purge people who are unemployed get killed....it's symbolism for certain political ideologies. If there are no people to be unemployed cus they're dead, then the rate could easily be 1%.
