Did you (or do you plan to) get your drivers license as soon as you were legally eligible?
Yeah, but I failed on my birthday. I passed the second time 2 weeks later though :)
I've got a phobia of driving. So I'm 20 and I still don't know how :(
I'm scared I'm gunna accidentally kill someone & every time I get in a car people talk about how horrible drivers are ....
I did not get mine until my freshman year of college and even then, it was only because I commute to school and often couldn't plan public transportation to my class schedule. I was terrified of driving.I love it now! I'm not sure why I was so afraid
A few of my friends had theirs already so it didn't matter. But once I graduated school, I moved to where there was a busline, but then I went seizure free for like 10 years, and I was like what the hell. But then the fuckers came back, and well.
Got my license on my 16th birthday. Both my kids got theirs on their 16th birthdays, too. We were just as excited as I was.
no we didn't have a car when I became legally old enough to drive. I didn't get mine until I was a little over 18
I tried to. DMV let me down. Took them 9 months to call me to schedule the 2nd portion of my drivers ed, so by that point I was already almost 16. Had to keep the permit for a year after that, so I was about a year late. :/
I had to wait 5 months until spring.
I wanted to get it ASAP but I didn't wind up getting it until about half a year after I turned sixteen
No, I enjoyed being chauffeured. I didn't get a drivers license for more than 2 years after I could. And only then because my parents made me.
yup, got my license and didn't have anywhere to go and nothing to drive to get there.
Didnt get mine til I was 20. I was smoking way too much pot at 16 to be driving, anyway.
I was a very nervous driver and I didn't like driving. So I actually was 20 and had graduated from college by the time I got it. Now it's no big deal, but then I remember that just one year ago I couldn't drive alone. Whoa.
I was 35. I had a full-blown phobia when it came to driving. I still hate it, and drive as little as possible.
Not driving yet. Only 11!
I did but my kids didn't! My daughter didn't get her license until the week before senior year! My son got his when he was 18. He still hates to drive. He mostly bikes to class. His girlfriend does most of the driving.
I am not eligible yet (not far off, though), but now I am wondering if I will wait or not.. While I'm a bit worried about actually driving and the costs of it, it does sound exciting... I can drive a car now? Wow.,
Yeah, got my slip thing in the mail about 2 weeks after I turned 16, I was at the dmv the next day!
One month before my 18th birthday. My parents wouldn't allow it because of my high school grades.
15 - had a permit. The only restriction was that I had to drive with an adult in the passenger seat.
I'm 21 and have never had a license. I have tried twice to get a learner's permit but failed the test both times.
I got mine at 15
YES. I got mine immediately and loved the independence. My cousin just got his and he is 19 . I will never understand people that are indifferent about driving lol
Not exactly. It was a bit later ... oh yeah, 18 *years* later! Ha, ha!!
I was a strange kid, that I didn't especially want to drive. After I had kids and they were at the age where I had to take them places, I needed to drive, so I finally learned.
I hate driving. Just graduated and will be getting mine at least by the end of summer. Maybe.
Yes permit at 16 license 6 months later, been driving for 34 years...
Yes I did. I was driving since I was about 12 anyway.
My mom took me out of school and we drive to the next town over where they did the test everyday on my birthday I walked out with my temporary that day.
November in Michigan. Got my license but didn't much feel like driving until spring.
Right on my 14th birthday. I already had 7 or 8 years experience.
I waited until I was 17. Here, you have to take driver's ed to get your permit at 15 otherwise you have to wait until 15 1/2. I didn't want to take driver's ed and then I just waited the extra 6 months until I was 16. I was in no rush!
Right on my 15th birthday. There is almost zero public transportation in Mississippi.
Nope. I plan to wait until either 25 or until I have a legitimate need to drive.
As a legitimate need? Maybe. But I was thinking more along the lines of it being necessary for employment.
ive failed my test 3 times... #winning
I was driving long before I had my license, mostly on private roads. Once I pulled up to a stoplight and my drivers trainer ( mandatory class) was in the car next to me. He actual laughed because I had owned up at the start of class.
Took my test on my 16th birthday.
I got it right when I turned 16
I grew up in a rural area. no buses, nothing in walking distance, my parents both worked full time, and I have no siblings. my parents gladly bought me a car and took me to get my license the day after I turned 16.
My son started driving in the pasture when fixing fence with his Dad when he was 10 or so. By the time he was 14 and took drivers ed he was a pretty experienced farm driver. His instructor had to keep reminding him both hands on the wheel.
And my husband and I and our kids all got farm permits at 14. You always kept a parts box in the car or truck and if you got stopped you made up a story about running for parts and you could get away with driving a lot.
I took and received my motorcycle license first
I lived in Idaho and could get a daytime license at 14, but I waited until 16. My daughter is 17, has a permit and has taken drivers ed, but she has no desire to get her license yet.
Pretty darn close to right on time. A little trouble with schedule at the DMV and avoiding the known grumpy evaluators.
I got mine when I was 16 and a half.
It was a few months after I turned 16, but not because I wasn't in any rush. It was because I hadn't had enough practice while I had my permit.
Had to drive my father to work, then walk to school uphill a mile, up hill both ways
I did. I got it at 15.
Yep, 16th birthday.
My parents didn't want me driving right away. I did a lot of extra training because of my ADD, got my permit at 17 and then my license at 18. That way I also didn't have to deal with new york's junior license crap.
Mom took me on my 16th birthday.
I didn't get a car for a couple of months though & it was a used sedan, but I loved it.
Not the very same day, like on my birthday, but yes within a week or two of it. There was no huge rush, because I wasn't allowed to spend my money on a car anyway.
