Pipe lines. There's been too many rail car spills where I live.

Which is a better way of being punched in the nuts: a mailed gauntlet or an electrified glove?

Mailed gauntlet

Is there a point being made?

If you don't get it, then I am not really interested in explaining.

Ok. Is there a correct answer?

Pipeline. I'm still against building it though

We need to become less dependent on oil, not more. And you would still need to transport using rail cars, just not as much

This doesn't make us more dependent on oil. I'm all for funding new alternative energy but for now, we are using petrol.

Actually rail cars as long as the DOT enacts and enforces the DOT-111 regulation on rail car redesign. Well documented in the EU.

Obama will approve the keystone after November. He's just trying to cater to his stupid base. Just watch, it will happen.

It will happen before November. His party needs all the help it can get. Creation of jobs is the end result.

The democrat base as seen in the past will sacrifice jobs and saving money for the environment, understandable, but if anything, this pipeline will help the environment. He won't pass it until after is my bet

....Help the environment? What magic trickery of denial are you casting?

The tankers and trucks used to transport the oil are releasing Co2 into the atmosphere, while the pipeline isn't(or not nearly as much).

citethesource Socialist and Atheist
06/03/14 11:10 am

So your position is that because it is not releasing CO2, that it is good for the environment? You're willing to ignore any other environmental damage that may occur and focus only on a single aspect of the pipeline's impact?

I never said it was great or anything. I just said that it would be a lot better for the environment than what we are doing now to transport oil. Sure they'll have to displace some things but it's worth it.

"this pipeline will help the environment."

Am I to take it that the above sentence does not actually mean that the pipeline will help the environment?

Maybe I should redact my statement? If that's ok with you (;

It will lessen the harmful impact on the environment from transporting petroleum.

It made sense to me. Pipelines are environmentally friendly. See Alaskan Pipeline for examples. The libs got all bent outta shape for that one, too. Then Exxon Valdez occurred. Hmmmm... Tough call...me thinks not!

To be fair I can't imagine they are 100% friendly but I think a lot of the risk involved in petrol transport is taken out of the equation which in a sense is more environmentally friendly. Better than ships, trucks and rail carts lol.

This pipeline is better for the environment, because if we don't build it, Canada will sell it to China. It will be shipped via ship to a country that doesn't have the environment as a high priority.
Environmentalist don't have an effective argument

for stopping the pipeline. They don't really care about the environment worldwide, just where they can complain with impunity.

Why did some democrats say rail carts? Can someone please tell me.

There is a crack in the Democrat dike on this as of late. Incumbents are starting to sweat the November election.

Environmental nuts never consider that oil companies have a strong incentive not to let millions of dollars worth of product spill onto the ground.

Well, pipelines are safer, with the exception if when Warren Buffett owns a rail line that would lose business to a new pipeline. Then a pipeline is way too dangerous.

This is one of those situations where I think the environmentalists are nuts for not wanting the pipeline. The oil will be transported whether you like it or not. Are you going to stick with unfounded protests, or get real?

Yeah, but that's stupid and unrealistic. The oil and natural gas will be produced whether they like it or not. Off they oppose the pipeline, it will be transported in a way that's worse - their wishes be damned.

That is my problem with the so called environmentalists. Their lack of common sense causes more environmental damage than the progress they are blocking.

Pipelines. I don't expect you to read all of this, but that in-depth article hits like a sledgehammer. Build that Keystone already. www.manhattan-institute.org/html/ib_23.htm#.U4wWZn_D_mw
