MYTH #3: Laziness is the main cause of poverty & wage stagnation. Working harder/efficiently will invariably result in prosperity. REALITY: US worker productivity (poor & middle class) has doubled since 1984; wages have seen no substantial increase.

This assertion is overly broad. Productivity in sectors like Technology & Energy have increased, and wages for those jobs are reflective of that. However, productivity in retail & food service are flat, thus no movement in wages. Myth Buster BUSTER!

Has productivity increased due to actual employee contributions or as a result of technological improvements and automation?

Work harder/better decisions refer to school and when young. This creates opportunities

Doesn't this information contradict your statement?

Those that choose to work might be working harder to pay for those that choose to sit on their asses.

To add a little bit to that: if you remove the incentive from a particular action, people do less of it. If everything costs more and wages are flat (thus relatively, wages are doing down), the incentive to work is dropping with each passing year.

While workers have taken a hit with regard to wage increases I believe their jobs haven't changed but business has used technology to increase productivity.

There is a glut in the work force so everywhere you look the competition is tough. If you are not willing to do the hard work there are 1,000 people waiting behind you that will. For entry level jobs and low skill, hard work helps keep the job.

Sucks when people use actual data and apply reason and logic to make a rational argument.

The article fails to recognize that a large share of increased labor productivity is a result of automation and technology, not effort of labor force.

Well, for me it's true and not true. For society as a whole you're right, increased productivity does not correlate to higher wages. For the individual though, they hold tremendous power to grow their own wages given the drive to do so.

VER - just did a new poll on 2A - check it out. Think anyone will catch that it's a variation on taking your M-16 out to get burritos?
