"It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game."
How you play the game determines whether you win or lose so agreed.
That is a phrase that losers use to make themselves feel better
Is this one of those stupid sayings to make everyone feel like a winner. Made to protect everyone's feelings. LOL
Don't be that person who thinks everyone gets a trophy if you didn't get first you lost.
Winning rocks !!
Winning is everything. If it wasn't we wouldn't call it a game...or life.
It's about both.
Why play if not to win? Then what's the point?
No professional athlete does it for those reasons.
You play to win the game
I'm sure they still enjoy doing it, and the average person is not professional. You eat for sustenance, but also because it is pleasurable. A "play to win" attitude may earn you a trophy or money, but those types of people also are sore losers and
I have noticed, that they are also more likely to revolve their whole life around a GAME, to the point of addiction. If someone played monopoly all day long I would think thats a problem, which is also how i feel about sporting games.
So sure, the overall goal is to win, but I believe it is more important in how you win, and your mindset during the game, and if you can handle losing well, if not better than, winning.
Don't get me wrong, I would rather win any day! I am very competitive BUT I am teaching my boys to have integrity, to be fair, and to think of others. I want them to do their best, but I will not let them be the kids crying or screaming if they lose!
I think its how I play. I like to play against myself and top what I think I can do. I don't care so much about the score at the end of it all.
Play for one reason - WIN.
Disagree cuz I'm the best in the game. Richard, that's my name.
Sherman: "Well, I'm the best corner in the game! When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that's the result you gonna get! Don't you ever talk about me!"
I actually like Richard Sherman. I just like to quote him.
When you play the game of thrones, you either win or you die.
The purpose of any competitive activity is to win. How you play the game is a losers stance
Shut up loser.
Spoken as a true loser. It's hilarious that you would feel the need to be disrespectful to one who has a belief which differs from your own! OBVIOUSLY I touched a deeply repressed loser mentality in you! CHEERS
You're a joke, Freeman.
how you play the game is a losers stance?? sorry you have not been around sports or competition enough...while the goal is to win, you learn a lot more about a person who loses than a person who wins!
@Borny.........I have to disagree, I played college FB and let me tell you, it's about winning, not some "how you play the game" rhetoric
And just so you know, since you obviously have little knowledge about sport realities, the money, the scholarships, the goal is to WIN!!!
I said that...but there s more too it! sorry you never figured that out as a player. you truly missed out!!!
Hilarious, no doubt you are a "sport" wanna be, never won, never could, so buy into the whole "it's how you play the game" idiocy. American sports? It's all about the WIN
oh I've won plenty, but the best character was shown after a tough loss. but if winning is all that matters to you, that's OK...just don't coach! Thanks.
Should I decide to coach, I will model my approach to align with both my HS and college FB coaches. It all about the win, and win we did
I'm happy that you won! Sorry that's all you see in football!
"Winning isn’t everything; it’s the only thing" Vince Lombardi, who probably heard the phrase from UCLA coach Henry Russell Sanders who said it first.
the point of playing or trying is to win the game
I'll do whatever it takes, within the rules that make sense to me, to win
How you play.... But winning is realllllly great too.
You play to win the game! - Herm Edwards
-game of thrones
Winning isn't everything; it's the only thing.
You play to win. Unless its for fun
"If winning isn't everything, why do they keep score?" - Vince Lombardi
depending on which IT
"Winning isn't everything it's the only thing"
I prefer not to play the game at all. ;-)
How about a nice game of chess...?
It's whether you win or lose AND how you play the game.
It doesn't matter whether you win or lose, as long as you do either extravagantly.
True. But people only remember the winners.
As long as you play to win, try your hardest, and learn from your loss, it is all good. Isn't that just like everything else in life?
After just watching the Kings win game winning counts. It was an exiting game but there is only one team going to the Stanley Cup playoff and the other team stays home.
I'm sad to see the result of that game, but it was a great series! Now I have to root for the Rangers, only because they are an original 6 team.
Training our kids to think everyone is a winner or that everyone gets a trophy is just stupid. There's only one winner. However, sports are about having fun, learning to be part of a team, and sportsmanship. Bottom line.
That is horrible. You're taking away the fun of competition.
You learn that through competition
It's both. You have to play right and fair and be a good sport. But winning matters.
And there is a difference between being a good loser and a good sport. I'm a good sport if I lose, but I'm a terrible loser.
That's what I tell my kids, but I lie to them all the time anyway.
Sometimes, not all the time, it's about winning & losing.
I dunno! I want to win pretty badly . . . :)
You play the game to win.
If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'.
I agree, it ISN'T about winning or losing, it is about giving your all, being part of a team and having fun with a sport you love and not getting bent out of shape if you do lose.
Nah, it's about winning.
Agree. If you give it your all, in anything not just a game, the satisfaction is still there. If you didn't, there will be regret.
Losing that game won't get you a scholarship.
It will if your stats prove it. 200 yards in a game is still 200 yards whether you win or lose.
Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing
How you play matters, but winning also matters to me.
If you have iterated strategy absolutely! Game theory has answers to this very question.
While I think good sportsmanship is very important, it IS about winning or losing. Why do we keep score if it's not?
Ref doesn't see it, it was legal
And election logic
How you play counts
I'd rather win
