Yes, I'd be lying if I denied it. I've never been one to be social, even with my friends; on the internet, it's different though. I do most of my talking and learning on the internet, and I've been exposed to different ideologies and point-of-views.
Not to mention, I wouldn't be able to progress as far in my language studies without the it. The internet may have a negative reputation, but it is invaluable.
Made me be more social, learn more about the world, it has helped me buy stuff that isn't sold in my rural area. It had overall made me question today's ideas and to think for my own. It has made me be more open about stuff. Overall progress. :D
It's made me both smarter and lazier - why bother remembering anything when all the world's knowledge is in my hand - but I don't think it's changed me in any measurable way.
It's made me a lot more aware of different people's experiences and how they come to hold the views that they do. Definitely valuable in considering national politics etc.
If not directly, then indirectly. Through everyone around me using it, as well as myself, opinions and personality traits, as well as cultural norms, will develop. Pretty much all my life some degree of the internet has been developing (including…
Nope. I think the vast majority of my personality traits were formed long before I used the Internet considerably. For the younger generations I think it definitely will though much more frequently.
On who "I am". No. I still have the same values and my personality is the same. But it is a fun activity - especially this place and a source of information
Absolutely. The internet was vital in my adolescence. I literally didn't have anywhere else to go to learn what it meant to be gay or to find people I could talk to honesty. It radically shaped the trajectory of my life.
I feel like I would be an incredibly different person without the internet. It's been my main tool for learning and for understanding myself and others. I would be a lot more narrow minded without it, that's for sure.
My entire outlook on life would be different if it wasn't for the internet.
Even some of my friends in "real life", who have had major impacts on me.. I'm not sure if I would've ended up being so close to them w/o chatting on MySpace first. Lol
Leaving religion in this past year is an obvious thing in my life that came from the way the internet has impacted me. But I think that's just a side effect of how throughout my whole life the internet has allowed me to explore my curiosity.
And I realized that another reason why I sometimes don't comment on my own polls may be because I think something very specific about the subject, but I have trouble wording it in a way that really communicates the way I feel about it.
