Do you have a landline telephone in your home?
Only cuz it is part of our bundle.
We didn't have one for 8 years, but got one again 2 years ago to have our security system monitored. Didn't want to deal with wireless installation in attic. But I don't even know the landline's number. Ringer stays off. I forget it's there.
Not for long! $30 a month to AT&T for something that isn't used much, or at all and is more of a nuisance than a necessity, damn telemarketers. Just bought a NetTalk Duo Wifi on Amazon.
Ha! I saw that someone still uses fax! That's hilarious. Do you wear your baby blue tux and listen to your bee gees cassettes while using your fax?
If you have a land line, do you also have an outhouse and an ice box?
We cancelled it to pay for cell phone service, but we still have a home phone (we have Ooma [VOiP]).
It only works for 911
Geez I've always had one. Didnt know that many people didnt!
what I assume from the numbers is that families with kids need a landline moreso than others.. likely because they feel safer or need it for their security system
Yes, though in the fairly robust circle of friends and family, I am the only one. Hard-line phones are going the way of tube-type TV's.
Nope. What's the use when all of your household members have cellular devices?
I always have signal
how do you use a cell phone for those "for English press 1" by the time you press it they hang up on you
I hate the reception of cell phones..you are gonna have to drag me kicking and screaming to get a cell phone as the main phone...
Jds1130- exactly the same reason I have one! Small kids in the house, they don't yet know our address and a cell phone could be anywhere, too much time to find in an emergency.
I haven't had a landline phone since before 2000...
Does service through Comcast count as a land line?
Soon the answer to this question will be more along the lines of "what's a party line?" hahaha
yes. because I refuse to have a cell phone, but I still need to order pizza
Technically we have one mounted on the wall. But we don't have the service anymore. Call our home phone and nothing will happen. I prefer my cell anyways. The only calls we would get on there anyways were solicitors since personal calls just went to our cells. Waste of money when ya don't use it.
pfffwhaaa? no! not for 12 years!
Have had MagicJack only for over 2 yrs now
Yes, for a little while longer then its gone. Although I have to say I hate having long conversations on a cell phone, it's not the same.
My wife forces us to have it. A complete waste of money.
Wow, 47% don't?
I do but I never use it.
Does VOiP count as landline?!? For when I have my cell silenced and my husband really needs to talk to me.
Why wouldn't you have a landline? It is too expensive to make a secure call on a cell and very easy & convenient with a landline. Besides, directv requires one.
My apartment has a phone on the wall, but it's only to let people in the front door. I haven't had a land line in years.
Haven't had one in probably 10 years. Use one at work sometimes, but it's odd talking on one now.
All the under 21s living with the over 40s
Yes for 911 calls. I have young kids and god forbid they need to call for me or my husband and it took operators too long to look up my cell. From a landline the address pops up immediately.
Yes but only because it comes as part of cable package. Never EVER use it. Don't know it by memory
Yes, but only for my alarm system.
Landline unnecessary. A prepaid Net10 lets me talk for 10c a minute nationwide. I talk so little on the phone that I only have it to give out my number if someone needs it whether business or pleasure.
Yes because I retired from the phone company.
I think it's funny that I've heard people judge folk on having cellphones when they're on welfare.
We have to have a landline because where I live (out in the middle of nowhere), you get almost no cellphone reception. It sucks.
We have Ooma VoIP. Is that considered a landline? We need it for babysitters, though.
Got rid of my cellphone.. Best thing I've ever done for myself!! And for our landline I got an old pay phone mounted to the wall, it rocks!!
No cellphone coverage here, so still have a landline. I also have a NetTalk duo (VoIP) as a backup for the times the cable works and he phone line doesn't, and for when anonymity is a plus. The landline will be the first thing to go if Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile ever gets their stuff together.
Really? These many people still have landlines? Why keep paying for both, landline and cellphone? O_o They do have cellphones right?!
Only for my fax
Ha! What a question. It is like asking, "do you drive a horse and buggy."
I have a magicjack which I guess would be considered VoIP.
Use it as my fax
No land line and no cable. Couldn't be happier.
No, it's totally unnecessary and a waste of money. Why would I pay for telemarketers to call me?
