seeing most people are very fat of course I am! Missippi should be very red. last time I checked they are the fattest state with many other southern states close behind.

I don't exercise.. I smoke... And I eat crappy food. But i I'm still healthier than most of the people my age I know. We are a very unhealthy generation!

I'm pretty strong for a 16 year old girl. I can throw an hold girls and guys twice my size :)

@UFsurfer, I put a rope or belt where my legs are parallel to the floor so when I touch it I know that I've gone far enough to count.

16, 5'10", 165lbs, max bench ~150, ride my bike everywhere, trying to gain another 15-20lbs. Also I play football

@Burdman, great numbers for your age, make sure you get your squats really low, at least parallel w/ the ground. Alot of people cheat themselves on that lift, your bench will come. Its all about consistency, stick with it!

@GreatOne, I aim for overall fitness, which means strength + endurance, I'm not the strongest in my weight class, and I'm not the fastest runner, but I don't think too many people can compete with my all-around fitness, sorry if that sounds vain or boastful, I'm just proud of my hard work.

15 years old, 5'9", 155 lbs, 160 bench max and 275 squat max. I take weight training in school so I'm hoping to raise the bench max this year. I'd say that I'm above average for a teen in Georgia.

Yeah. I wrestle, fence, bike, swim, hike, camp, and eat healthily. Plus most other teenagers are either obese or anorexic.

FIAT, I can run a 5k faster than he can. I do play soccer, I just don't do running as a sport.

@GreatOne, with all due respect, consider that he has accomplished more than both of us in that run. You being an armchair person, and I barely getting 1.5 miles. That is, unless you once ran a 5k faster than did he.

@FIAT and Fiona I'm just saying I wouldn't be all too proud of that. and Fiona, it kinda is about how fast you run it...and I'm not a runner myself

@Quinnipac No they probably own mirrors and don't like their looks. But it is so discouraging that they go back and do the very thing that got them there.

@GreatOne I know from experience that bulk doesn't necessarily translate to fast speed. And besides, he's only like 14 minutes off the world record, AND I CAN'T EVEN DO 2 MILES YET! Why? Endurance versus oomph fitness. I'm working on it though…

I was not more fit than others a year ago, but have started working out 5 days a week. Jogging and weight training has allowed me to fit into my old jeans! I still work out 5 days a week and have started to eat healthier, after realizing how poorly I was eating last year.
01/06/12 4:12 pm
I'm a basketball player and endure lots of running daily so I know for sure I am more fit than the average person my age.
01/06/12 3:40 pm
@GreatOne Doing a 5k shouldn't be about how fast you do it, it should be about how much you enjoy it and how proud you feel after accomplishing it, no matter how many times you succeed.
It's rude to bring other people down, especially fellow runners. Try to keep your negative thoughts quiet.

I run 3 times a week and hike about once a week. It's more for my mental health than my weight--I love being outside. Every once in awhile I'll do 50 mins of Pilates, but I work part time as a stock girl so most of the time I'm too tired.
I enjoy being physically fit.
01/06/12 12:51 pm
5'8", 162, 395 deadlift, 365 squat, 225 bench, and ran a 5k in 26:42 a few weeks ago. "Damn it feels good to be a gangsta," lol

I don't know too many 42 year olds that can run 12 miles daily with a 10 lb weighted vest on...

Alexander, that would be correct if everybody in America had SOH and voted on this question. As a physical therapist I can tell you the average person is BIG in the US.

@vegan I know of someone who did the easy does it mentality after hitting the wall at mile 74 or somewhere close. He ended up at his second attempt finishing in just shy of 28 hours and was already exhausted. But he didn't go to the hospital! Sometimes you learn lessons the hard way…
