Do you approve of the increase in payroll taxes (from 4.2% to 6.2%) that workers of all income levels are paying as of January 1?

Is the government still spending $200 on a toilet seat and $175 on a hammer? What do you think?

Egomaniacal thinking and pandering to the public. Seem to think he is at a pep rally. It's not lost on me that he wants to change something he states is the "greatest". Strange thing to say.

Picking lines and taking them out of context can completely change the meaning for which they were meant. Plus I would consider it spam since it is in every political post .... Just saying try to be original sometimes to spark up legitimate friendly conversational debate

Do you know how much the president's yearly salary is?

The tax has always been 6.2%. It does sucked that the temporary tax holiday ended. I wish I could forget the definition of temporary as easily as some of you folk.

I don't like Obama.I don't like him for crying about raising the taxes. I would of respected him with a tax increase on top of big spending cuts,he should of cut spending. But instead he got his foolish tax increase with no spending cuts. No compromise at all, very Irresponsible.

I do payroll and the tax rate has been 6.2% for all of the 25 years that I have done this job. Obama made it 4.2% after the economy melted down in 08. It's just putting it back where it has been for a quarter of a century. SHOW OF HANDS manipulated this question. Bad form assholes.

Not really. This was a *planned* *expiration* of a limited-time tax reduction; it's not an Increase. And it's not a lie. And the reduction was Obama's plan to begin with.

Yes. This is what the people voted for. It's funny that Obama said he wouldn't raise taxes on the middle class and he did. Obama lied again.

Yes, since I never approved of the "holiday" in the first place. Social Security is in bad enough shape without taking money out of the system like we did the last two years.

Complain about the debt and refuse to pay higher taxes. Come on, people. You can't have it all.

It was a "democratic moron" who CUT the payroll tax by 2%, 2 years ago. What's happening now is not a higher tax, but a planned expiration of that cut. The payroll tax covers social security & Medicare so they couldn't be reduced indefinitely.

Lol... the soc security taxes I pay DO go to pay raises and Obama's vacation and illegal aliens. All I get is a promise that when I retire the govt will take someone else's taxes and give them to me. It's not worth the paper it's printed on.

Way to use example that aren't paid for by the fed. You pay for those things through state and local taxes.

The government often times waste money, but there are many out there who also spend very unwisely. This is a major reason Americans on average have 15000 in CC debt. So who spends money more wisely is not always so cut & dry.

Clepak ... Yep, 12 seems to fit you. You simply don't understand the way the federal budget works, nor the issues with MrO (no, I didn't vote for him).

Other presidents faced with similar issues have modified their behavior. MrO's arrogance leads him to flaunt not moderate his behavior.

Reduce revenue going to the federal govt until the massive size of the government is forced to shrink & prioritization occurs.

Instead of allowing the reduction to expire, the tax should have been expanded beyond the first $110,000 of pay. That would take care of the financial problems that SSI and Medicare face in the not too distant future.

Yes, 12. I'll bet I've paid in a bit more in taxes than you have. What? Are you an Obama supporter? Is that why your upset? Because I disagree with his decision to give a payroll tax deduction instead of an income tax deduction? Like I said, don't be a douchebag.

Clepak ... I'll assume that your ignorant comments are driven by the fact that you're 12. Once you've paid for the bloated government for a couple if decades and stood in the DMV line a few times, you'll understand. Wasteful mindless government waste makes most of us sick because we pay for it.

DFlem ... Please out the keyboard down, it is dangerous for you.

MrO is different. Other presidents, when faced with a tough economy, responded with measures that helped to clear hurdles, getting government out of the way of the private sector, so the economy could recover. Not MrO.

Think Lovin Life
01/06/13 7:02 pm

Susan ... you give MrO far too much credit, but ok ... Lets run with your silly notion. Tell us, please, why did your benevolent savior propose the reduction? The state of the economy is no better and therefore the reasons it was instituted still exist. Only change is MrO's appetite for spending

Obama's raising our taxes to pay for his pay increase. What a hypocrite! Lets lower the deficit while i raise my own pay. I think we should vote on his pay increase. I don't have the ability to give myself a raise. Since we are his boss, he should ask us first!

As for your comment on the irresponsible O'spending, if it were in a separate account would it make MrO less irresponsible? NO!

Do you realize that what's happening is the *expiration* of a 2-year *reduction* in the payroll tax? And that the reduction was Obama's idea in the first place? He gave you a bit of a break for two years, and you're thanking him by insulting him for something that isn't true.

That's funny, if its empty, how are my parents getting paid? And the reason it is in danger is because administrations like to steal from it or like the current administration, defund it by giving payroll tax deductions. Reagan tried to protect it to no avail.

Obama's vacation cost $7,000,000
That's 7,000 families paying $1,000 more in "payroll taxes".
That could have paved a few roads.
Btw: I got a power bill last month.
