Christians: how do you explain the Trinity?
Patrick took the Shamrock with three lobes but one leaf as an example. Another would be the father looking into a mirror the reflection is the son and the all encompassing love from both is the spirt (even an atheist can understand this dogma)
Picture an Oreo cookie: one cookie mirrors the other and the filling holds them together.
Jesus mirrors the Father and the Holy Spirit is the love between them - together they are one
All analogies are inadequate though
I like this one!
Philip asked Jesus, "Show us the father". Jesus said "I've been with you all this time and you still don't know me Philip? If you have seen me you have seen the Father. "
He goes on to say "I and my Father are one"
In the book of John he says in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. And the word was mad flesh and dwelt Among us.
So... Jesus is the Father, the Son, And the spirit. :)
1 God, 3 Persons. We'll never be able to understand it.
if someone asks you about it, you would say we can't understand?
what would you say?
I have many examples.
I use the example of Theophany. All three Persons of the Trinity were there, but they were all God.
yet some use that to combat the idea
Water, first/middle/last name, egg...
You don't just have to give analogies-feel free to comment about your problems/struggles with it, scripture references, etc.
