Inspired by HayleyS and Zod: Are you open to the idea of acknowledging another religion than your own, no matter which religion that might be, as our official religion and making laws based on it?
depending on the religion...
Would you explain?
If it's the "true" religion.
Follow the gourd!
The holy gourd of Jerusalem?
For the first half I was like hell yeah I'm so open to that until I read the "official religion" part...no. That's a horrible idea.
Me too. Let's just stay religiously neutral; works better that way.
Lol exactly. I'll just explore religions on my own time in my own way.
Ha no doubt
Wonder who said yes?
trolls? really complacent people willing to lose their freedom?
Hopefully any intellectually honest and consistent people who said yes to Hayley's poll. Although that would be too much to ask.
usually i try and statements like this but yeah it likely is
Sharia law does sound interesting.
I'm absolutely opposed to any official religion. If we're basing laws off a particular religion, we can't truly have religious freedom. The one thing I really do love about this country is its diversity. We should embrace it more, not less.
Official religion? Hang on. I thought this was the USofA here. ;)
hey I don't want an official religion at all. but if 21% of respondents from Hayley's poll are ok with having christianity instated as an official religion, then I guess many thing need to be made clear, from my statement below to making the point
I know. Feeling snippy and sarcastic tonight. And like making fun of people who want state religion! Haha.
heck I found a song on youtube that, although sung, unfortunately, by a socialist, fits this situation, a parody of the french anthem using anti clerical language (I'll admit, its a bit out there, but at least its an opposite)
I find the idea of an "official" religion repugnant. It doesn't matter which one.
I find the idea of making laws based in religion, any religion, even worse.
same here. an areligious government is ok by me
What is your higher authority? Your religion or openness?
to those that vote no here but yes on hayley's poll, I must ask, if you yourselves don't want an official religion of another religion, why should non christians have to put up with a state church? I can't even say what I'd prefer to that, due to
it being so graphic. The fact anyone actually WANTS that is disgusting, deplorable, core shaking, vomit producing bile worthy of a medieval monarchy or brutal dictatorship, not a republic that prides itself as freedom's bastion in the modern world.
I don't follow Hayley, but I just read her poll. Wow! The things bluerum said there are just unbelievable and scary!!
yeah. I literally felt a time warp pulling the us back to the middd ages and myself to some Jewish quarter in said era. I mean really. forced church attendance? I'd rather... no I won't say that. this app is labeled 12+ can't risk someone seeing a
comment like that. but yes the fat anyone could think that is horrifying
What's your opinion of the UK?
other than the fact that it has a state church, fine. It isn't something we should want here, and the fact anyone actually does sickens me to the core
I agree, I don't want any state religion.
We could make it a yearly raffle. Everybody puts their favorite religion in the basket and whichever one is picked gets put up on the billboard next to the Waffle House.
But no, I would not be willing to let any religion be the "official" religion even if I did agree with it.
One of the great things about America is we have neither an official language nor religion. Let's keep it that way.
agreed. No theocratic muck! I feel the need to recite La Marseillaise Anticlericale due to those that said yes on Hayley's poll
