Are auto dealers still necessary?
Yes – I haven't yet quite gotten the knack of building my own cars.
I'm talking about like going to direct sales from auto manufacturers. Like technically an auto manufacturer like tesla is legally not allowed to sell a car to a consumer, it has to go through a dealer.
Just kidding. I couldn't resist such a good opening!
Maybe not for used cars, but for new ones.
What if the automaker shipped direct by having a few inventory relay points positioned throughout the country, and then just had a certified warranty and service support network?
I think the Internet has really changed car buying since prices are laid out more than ever. Once you decide what car you want and how much you're supposed to pay for the car, the actual sale and getting your car process is really a hassle.
