A friend has an annoying habit such as picking his nose, dropping an F-bomb in every sentence or whistling off-key all the time. You've mentioned it but nothing changes. Do you eventually bear with it or keep complaining?

A was with a friend yesterday that has the unfortunate habit of screaming "AWKWAAAARD" whenever she feels uncomfortable in a social context. I straight up just told her I didn't like that and eventually she stopped doing it.

Neither. At a certain point you keep your distance.

After exhausting a few conventional techniques I would have everyone in his circle of friends follow cue and nose pick in public. If that didn't work, walk away mid conversation at each offense. Or get smarter friends.

I'm essentially a child at heart, so I'd mention it, as it's a friend vs acquaintance, let it go but find something to nudge them with to help them understand my POV

Saying the f word is wicked common at my job.

Praetorianus Fair enough.

I mention it once, then drop it. Wasted effort.
