I'm packing for a 2-week vacation - what am I forgetting to pack? I don't leave for 24 hours, you've got plenty of time to remind me.
can I come? I need a vacation.
Hey it's a shorter trip for you I don't wanna hear it! We're going to get on a plane at 1:30am and not get there until 4:30pm... really regretting not springing for 1st class...
take a sleeping pill and you won't even notice ;-)
A couple pair of comfy shoes, so your feet aren't always in the same position if you're going to do a lot of walking.
Air freshener for the close quarters :)
I never would have thought of air freshener in a million years.
Location-specific phone or tablet apps. (I have a whole set for San Francisco trips.)
A few plastic bags for dirty clothes, stuff that gets wet, etc. (I suppose hotels have one in the room, but I like to have a few.)
We've already loaded up on the apps, and we got a suite with a washer/dryer!!
Cool! That's so handy, especially when you'll be there for a while.
You forgot to pack ME!!
But... but... I think that'll put me over the 50lb limit!
Damn airline regulations!! Have a fun trip!!
It's better to have it and not need than need it and not have it. Over pack!
I tend to agree, and we really have a lot of suitcase space!
I always travel with an extension cord and a 3-to-2-prong "cheater."
In addition to phone/tablet chargers, are you taking anything that uses batteries or has its own battery charger? (Camera, for me) Or any other kind of cable, like camera-to-iPad, or extra memory cards for a digital camera?
Gum if you're flying, for ear adjustment on takeoff & landing.
In addition to any vitamins/supplements & prescription drugs, I take a few painkillers (Aleve) plus Benadryl (because I have weird allergies).
Memory card - check!
Batteries & charger - check!
Meds - check!
Headphones - check!
If you wear glasses, maybe a spare pair, and for sure a small repair kit.
I sometimes forget my nightgown or PJs.
Sometimes I take a few tea bags. Packs of your favorite non-calorie sweetener, if you use it & are fussy about type.
Extra glasses (last Rx) are already in my bag :)
I went on a trip once with just my current glasses. They broke right at the nosepiece. I was staying with a friend & we were meeting up with about 10 other people we knew from an online service but had never seen before. I felt SO stupid...
Oh no!! I always keep my last pair as a backup.
having to hold up the 2 halves of my glasses just to see anyone at all (I'm nearsighted). It also wasn't a lot of fun flying home, alone. I've never traveled without taking my previous pair of glasses with me, since then.
Nice hangers for your clothes.
Electrical cords for charging phone and camera (if you still use a camera). Does your vacation spot use our electrical plugs or do you need an adaptor?
Tweezers - check!
Electrical cords for charging phone and camera - check!
No adaptor, staying in the states.
You have what you need! Have a great vacation!
If you're flying, be sure large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Make sure you take a knife and a Taser in your carry-on for safety, because airports can be scary places. Last time some guys in uniforms grabbed me and bundled me off
off to some back room where they questioned me for hours. It was really intimidating. So I'm going to make sure to be better armed next time. Just sayin' - you gotta watch out for uniformed weirdos. I think they were Haré Krishnas. Hope this
helps, Frostbite! Have a great vacation! ;o)
Ooh, see I was going to leave those behind... should I take a handgun as well?
Depends on how thuggish the Alaskan Haré Krishnas are. But for the sake of the NSA, let me hasten to add that I've been kidding all along. Except for the part about you having a great vacation!
I hope you have fun!! Disney World right? Tell Mickey I said hello!! I miss it there! :)
Yes Disney, Universal, the whole shebang!
Always bring your own pillow - don't want a stiff neck on your vacation!
Good idea, but a bit bulky to carry cross country. I'd rather buy a new one when I get there if the hotel pillows are really bad.
Med info and who to contact.
That's always in my phone, but always important!
Turn off the oven. Leave a tv on so the flashing screen looks like someone is home at night.
I like the TV idea, thanks. We do have someone coming in a few times while we're gone, but that's a good idea.
Have them grab your mail and save it.
Already have that set up with the post office.
Better yet...just get a plug-in timer for a lamp or two.
Sandals, baiting suit, sunglasses, beer coozie.
We won't be going to the beach, but definitely have the sunglasses! Brought our suits in case we decide to use the pool, but my husband swims even less than I do, which is an amazing feat.
I always forget my hair brush
I could style my hair with my fingers and one of those dinky hotel hair dryers if I had to.
Poncho for rain
The forecast has been iffy...
I managed not to forget a thing on my recent trip to San Francisco, unless you count cold & rainy weather gear, which I figured I could borrow there. I keep a running check list suitable for any kind of trip on an iPhone app. I just uncheck the
items I'll need, or need to do (it includes stuff like stop mail & newspaper, turn off alarms, etc.) appropriate for the current trip, & check again as I do them.
What I'm most likely to forget is my HAIRBRUSH.
I think we're going to be good - my mom is driving us to the airport and she's pretty thorough.
Thank you, these are great reminders so far - keep them coming!
Warm weather gear. It's been miserably hot off and on in parts of Florida.
I hope so!! The forecast has been really hit or miss..,
I'm just going by our hangouts when one day they're freezing and the next week they've goy the A/C on. "Freezing" being relative - we won't see their "freezing" (mid 50s) for another two months here. I hope it works out great for you.
Thank you, I'm sure we'll have a wonderful time no matter what the weather brings!
Sunblock, plenty of underwear, more than you think you need. A good book, probiotics, any vitamins you need.
Underwear - check!
I always forget charging cables. Whether for the laptop, iPhone or iPad, I always seem to end up short when I arrive at the destination. Double check. =)
The scary part is those are all last-minute items
A gorgeous new piece of lingerie...surprise Mr Icytoes. :)
Is this your Florida trip? How exciting!
Yup, we're off to the opposite end of the country!!
Have a great time!
