Have you ever been diagnosed with a mental disorder?
I have one, but I'm technically not "diagnosed".
Binge eating disorder. Mostly under control. Unfortunately I had a minor relapse last night, but I'm still progressing! :)
Bipolar, and depression runs in my family.
not yet, but that's prob bec I haven't gone to get diagnosed
Generalized anxiety disorder.
I'm sorry. It isn't easy to deal with.
It's not but I'm just in the beginning stages of dealing with it. Finding the right meds is hard. Saw your post below too and wanted to say good luck! I was scared too but meds have made life a little easier. Hope you find the right one fast!
Does synesthesia count
Diagnosed by someone else?..no..
Within the past 3 years I've been diagnosed with 2. I actually picked up my medical records a few days ago and they had a third diagnosis on them that I was completely unaware of.
Most disorders have some kind of comorbidity.
Seasonal depression, although at times it becomes more than seasonal and goes to severe.
No, but who knows what the future holds.
Bipolar disorder sucks. I have been in denial for years and have been sort of forced to accept the diagnoses this year.
That's what I got today. She wants me on meds immediately due to my tendency to have suicidal thoughts. I've been seeing her since last May.
I am adjusting to life on meds. It is certainly duller. I don't mean boring, I mean blunted. I am more stable though.
Interesting. I'm definitely scared, I've never been on meds but she's insisting.
Finding the right meds is hard. I have been through several since October to find the ones I am on now. Good luck!
Don't be scared. They can and most likely will help. If your doctor is a legitimate good doctor, you'll be fine. Good luck to you :-)
Weird timing, I just got out of seeing a doctor about this for the first time.
Diagnosed? No. Self medicated for decades though.
No, but I've never presented myself for evaluation or diagnosis either. Who knows where I fall, compared to an external standard? Most of the voices in my head think I'm probably fine. Usually.
There's always that one naysayer, isn't there...
You're ok as long as you don't start having arguments:-)
Severe depressive disorder.
As a teenager, major depressive disorder and PTSD. OCD as a child
Does Asperger's count?
Of course it does.
Also, there's a great forum website, www.wrongplanet.net if you're an Aspie, I highly recommend.
I'll have to check it out, thanks!
Thanks for that link, Asjelu. There's so much about AS that describes my life.
I was once diagnosed with it, but my current therapist is certified to recognize it and says I definitely don't have it.
