Bad news: you've been sentenced to 2 years of solitary confinement. Good news: you can pick your cell! Do you want a windowless cell with a laptop & full internet access, or an "offline" cell with a small outside patio and a mountain view?

I said Internet, but only because it would let me keep up with the news, weather, and my friends.

As much as I'd want the Internet, I'd certainly lost my mind if I didn't see the outside for two years.

I'd rather deal with the outside and reading than the lunatic fringe on Facebook and the Internet

As much as I love nature, the Internet lets me see my wife and kid, which will get me through 2 years much more effectively than any single, unchanging view, no matter how impressive.

Give me a pencil, paper, some books and fresh air and I'll be fine. Being stuck in a windowless room with my only entertainment coming from the internet and I'm going to go crazy.

Prisons and such allow books. So. I would go with outside. And for people who say internet, your facebook would be really dull, yes? "In my cell today! No real world beauty, but I saw a meme of grumpy cat!" 'Tis why I do not have a FB irl anyway.

They never said the laptop came with a charger. Plus I would probably think myself to death.

A patio would be nice, but without something to decently occupy my mind/time, I'd just slowly go insane.

I would prefer the patio and mountain view, but I would need to have access to books paper and writing utensils. If I didn't have that I would choose the internet.

A better comparison would be allowing books and writing utensils in the outdoor patio... I chose the indoor cell only because I would prefer something to do, despite surroundings

Tough choice. I can't imagine not being able to go outside. However, it is not truly solitary confinement if you can FaceTime your friends and family

This question is basically asking if you are willing to live without SOH for two years for a mountain view. @Tony, I thought we knew each other better than that.

At first I thought mountain view. As I thought about it, I go with connected. I can communicate with others and have a mountain view desktop. Best of both worlds.

honestly, we are too dependent on technology. solitary confinement without the internet for two years and bonding time with God in creation might be a blessing in disguise!

Solitary confinement is unconstitutional and has been proven to have long-term damaging psychological effects for those that are placed in pronged confinement. Prolonged solitary confinement has no place in our system and should be abolished.

If I'm correct in solitary confinement you still get an hour outside. I think. At least In some places. Doesn't matter I chose internet

Can I at least get books and things to write on/with in the offline cell? The first couple weeks I'd probably get twitchy from withdrawal, but after that, I think it'd be an overall much healthier environment - and I'd probably be more productive.

I would need some vitamin d. Plus I would like to unplug for a little. When I lived in pa, I got seasonal depression every year. Not since I've been in nc. I need the sun!!

online you can go to college and get an educatoon while in prison. then you can get a new house with a patio and a mountain view and ponder while you are free...

Really tough call, but for two years? I'm thinking internet. You can stay virtually connected to many things that way. Find interests, learn things, chat with people. If i could roam around outside and live in solitary on land, i'd choose that

Without sunlight, I'd need a vitamin D supplement! Otherwise, definitely web. I can stream David Attenborough docs. Better than a mountain view.
