Jon Stewart criticized FOX News for accusing Obama of using one scandal to distract from another scandal, then using the economy to distract from scandals, then using scandals to distract us from the economy. Is Stewart criticism sound?
sometimes I wonder what John Stewart would talk about if fox news didn't give him so much ammo all the the time. love the daily show, its hilarious.
Sound? Yes. As well as hilarious.
It didn't take Fox News to tell me that that is exactly what this regime does. One "crisis" after another always keeping everyone's attention and concern off balance.
All you have to do is watch the sequence and the timing of events, IF, that is, your news sources cover them.
In Fox's defense, they themselves admit they don't do "news".
He, um, wasn't providing a political opinion.
That reminds me, I haven't watched the Daily Show in a while. Must get back into that.
I don't pay attention to comedians giving political opinions just like I don't get banking/investment advice from the 7/11 guy.
Sure he was. He was critiquing a political position.
He wasn't criticizing a political position, he was criticizing a reporting technique. I suppose criticizing FOX News could be defined as a de facto political position.
Whatever. He's a comedian. Still don't pay attention to him.
That I can accept.
*facepalm* oh Jesus.
Commonsense, so why do you get your 'news' from political pundits and not journalists? What's 'fair and balanced' about a network that has no left-leaning shows (all right) and is run by a former republican campaign strategist and media consultant?
Stewart was critiquing a political position. He displayed a series of excerpts from their network that showed a pattern and contradictions to their own claims...hardly a political position. Is that like if I pointed out that you have a booger in
your nose that makes me a doctor?
*was = supposed to be wasn't
IMHO Fox, MANBC, and to a large part CNN are 99% not news. They are talkshows where people get together and say the things they feel will most lather up the other side and get their side's jaw sticking out. You could plop "the view" "the doctors"
Geraldo Rivera, Rikki Lake, Ellen, or Rush Limbaugh on any one of them and not be able to tell a difference.
Jon Stewart pokes fun at them; yes he's a comedian; and as he says his job is much harder than theirs. What's amazing is he can provide a much less biased pic of what's happening while pointing out the biases of those who should be doing that job.
